Skins for me, Buckets for villagers. The Buckets are refilled by the Well-Worker.

Is there a reason why u do it like this?
Why skins for u and buckets for villagers?

Out of habit. I think, waterskins have a lower weight. I just carry 2 of them with me, so I can drink when not near a Well or lake/river. The buckets are a bit heavyer, if I remember right.
But they can hold 100 Water-Points.
Also, it's more immersive imo, to have a Water-Skin in my Backpack and drink from it, than carrying and drinking from a Bucket.

It changes depending upon what I've picked up from exploring the world and how far into the game I am. If I haven't found water skins or buckets by the time I want to hire my first villager, then I'll buy a bucket of water and have them drink that. Once I've found some water skins then I've have them consume those first and then drink buckets of water, with berries as a back up source in case they ran out of both whilst I was away from my village. (This was before I could support a villager assigned to the well full time.)
When I had found fruit trees and they were providing fruit but before I had a tavern that could use the fruit, then I'd have them consume them to satisfy their thirst first and after that water skins and only buckets of water after that.

Later once I have cows, I first get them to drink any buckets of sour milk that I haven't moved to my quark+cheese making kitchens. Once they have finished the sour milk and after I've moved the buckets of milk needed for the current season's cheese productions and next seasons quark production I let them drink milk. If they run out of both then I let them drink from water skins - but frequently I find I do not need to let them do this.
The reason I do not let them drink the buckets of water is that my kitchen, tavern and herbalist use buckets of water and I do not want these places to run out. My low level well worker can keep up with the demand of the work stations easily and fill some waterskins on the side but I think they would struggle if I allowed the villagers to consume buckets of water.

I take a water skin with me however I usually drink from the streams and lakes as I go past/through them so between consuming vegetable soup when my hunger is below 50% and thirst below 75% (as it refills the water need by 25%) and drinking as I travel from natural sources I often go a whole season without drinking from the waterskin.

Waterskin for me, buckets for my villagers.
Reason is simple, buckets are cheaper to craft and can hold more water. I play on 1000% villager needs and they would go through waterskins too fast atm.

I carry a waterskin with me for emergencies, but rarely have to use it since i am near streams or river often enough during my travels to drink from there. And when in my village, I just drink from my well.

Buckets for villagers, nothing for myself. I drink from rivers.

Buckets of water for my villagers, they aren't allowed any stronger drinks XD I'm aiming for a million smackers (not that far to go now), I need goods to sell. Racimir gets to drink fresh water from lakes and rivers. Gets to wash off all the travel grime at the same time.
