Are Geese exceptionally slow breeders?
I started with a pair of each type of animal.
I did start with chickens that are now 6
then got pigs that have multiplied to 5
Then bought Geese that haven't done any breeding
followed with Sheep that now have 4
Even horses that came last due to the cost have added a filly.

Maybe I removed the farmer and didn't notice, but seems weird. I'll check after a couple more seasons. I've even made sure to give a more skilled farmer to the geese to see if that helps.

Just to confirm: like hubbe and TheMole stated:
- it's RNG influenced by the amount of adult males (every adult female has an extra chance to get babies for every adult male you have)
- they need animal feed present (since last update)
- they DO NOT need a worker (yes, I realise the name of the worker "animal breeder" is badly chosen since he/she doesn't affect the breeding at all)
- the eggs or other visual produce don't affect it at all
- (and you still need a slot available in the animal building for new animals)

So @Eternie: you are just having bad luck. For me it was the other way around in my previous playthrough. I desperately wanted to have more chickens for the eggs, but season after season I never got baby chicks. The geese on the other hand multiplied like crazy.

Then finally after I think 2 ingame years my chickens also had a baby, but it was a male... No extra eggs for me. -.-

From what I remember from last year (not sure if it has changed) but the closer the age is for the two animals the more likely they are to breed. Also you need room in the pen for the animal, each pen has their own cap on how many can be in the barn/coop/stable.

Also you need to have a person working at the pen or they won't breed at all even if you have the age close to each other so keep that in mind when setting settler priority for managing your live stock, I normally have my horses tended to full time when I have mothers taking care of their young. The game really needs a daycare system lol or school at the vary least something to free up mothers XD

But I am pretty sure that the fandom wiki for the game is where I found out the information before.

Age diffrence has no meaning for animals.
Just för NPCs.

Thats mostly random, with getting a higher chanse with more males.
Also, you dont need to have a worker.
They just need to have food to breed, sinse last update.

The Geese are more fun but chickens give many more eggs and are therefore more productive for your food supply.

I leave the eggs in the nest and after a while I see baby gozlings.
But we need free nests. Go to the animals tab and sell some of the older geese.

I still only have the two geese I bought they haven't had ANY goslings and have been there with a farmer mostly, for 2 - 3 seasons.
I was swapping out the animal farmers to use as regular farmers as the first crop harvests needed to be done for a day or so then reassigning them back to the animals for the remainder of that season. But that was the same for all animals and the others have found a way to breed like the chickens that had a 3 day head start and have 6 chickens all up.

Maybe it's a reluctant mother goose, or ugly gander?

The eggs in the building don't affact breeding at all, the OP is just having bad luck with the RNG

Thanks Morri you've just proved how bad my luck is ... or rather luck with geese at least.
I feel I have had quite a bit of luck generally in game so some bad luck with some geese
... "is like water of a ganders back" :-D

Jaunitta 🌸 thanks for adding screenshots to help clarify what you were saying
Appreciated.

I got chicken, and now geese, and I wonder why the geese doesn't go outside like chicken do. I even change where I build as it was very steep to go outside. Now it's not steep to go outside but they stay inside all the time

@quinoa is it winter ? Is there a safe fenced off area where they will feel safe?
Does that still occur in the following season? As some things change or are set up in the following season.

No it was summer and now autumn, and it's fenced off with gate
