Building Mines - do we also need to build a house/storage/food shed nearby?
Just approaching enough skills to build mines and I'm wondering if we also need to build a house and food/resource storage near to it otherwise I assume they'll wonder all the way back to the village every day. Can anyone confirm?

They will, but it doesn't matter for non-Farmers. They'll produce from 8:00-18:00 without ever reaching their workplace. And your Storages can be anywhere on the map. For your NPCs, it also doesn't matter. However, if you want to mine yourself, a nearby storage is quite helpful.

They will walk to and from your village every day, but they will be collecting resources while traveling. No worker other than the farmer needs to be at their place of work to be productive, for instance the mine can be in Hornica and the persin lives in Rilnica, bit they will still produce the same amount of iron as someone living iutside the mine

I still put a couple of houses out side the Hornica Mine so those miners live close to their work place, instead of walking past all the wolves on the way. Though I know the wild critters only attack me.

Sure, that's completely up to you. I like to have some workers living nearby (for the animation), while others are used as "walkers" to bring a bit of life on the roads.
(And if they have a Quest for you, you'll have a wandering Questgiver 😉)
