Food for Sambor

I have 20 of all the foods (beetroots, onions, cabbage and carrots) needed for the quest but when I go to Sambor he won't take the food or talk to me.
What am I missing?

Is he up? What time is it? Sometimes you can wake people up for a quest sometimes not. Also is the stuff on you or is it in storage? I think for this one it needs to be on you.

Make sure the quest is active, that can turn on the dialogue.
If that doesn't help, quick save wait a little and reload the quick save.

That helped when I had that happen.

In the top right of my screen shows the following:
! (yellow exclamation mark) Uniegost's story V
Deliver to: Sambor - Beetroot x 20 (38)
- Onion x 20 (30)
- Cabbage x 20 (0)
- Carrot x 20 (54)
When I go up to Sambor he has a yellow exclamation mark next to his name.
But when I click on him to bring up a dialog he tells me to go away and doesn't take the food.

This means you have no cabbage. Grab 20 Cabbage from your food store or from any vendor and try again.

All the food also has to be fresh too, if its too old he won't accept it. Edit: I went in stages took two of the food and set it close to where I know he was going to be, than I got the other two and than stood close enough to pick it all up and talked to him.

Really? Didn't know this, usually I tried to palm off the older foods first, but I never paid attention to how old. Probably was still acceptable for him then. (After all, what is some extra mold other than some more free food right? :-))

I knew that Sid1701d was talking nonsense - again.

To be totally sure I made a test.
I got some vegetables from my food storage which are in the lowest possible condition - next stage would be rot next season.

As the following picture shows, the vegetables with only 12,5% condition are accepted by the quest

... and so they of course are also accepted by Sambor

As a general rule you can say that NPCs accept all food above or equal to 1% (same goes for tools and weapons) either for personal use (in working buildings) or for consumption (food demand) and also as quest objectives.
There's no exception from this rule.

Dear Sid1701d. Please stop "answering" players' questions when in truth you haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about. I have already noticed in numerous posts that your answers are usually complete nonsense and therefore the opposite of helpful. Please refrain from doing so, because you are not helping anyone. Quite the opposite. At best, you contribute to players who have questions being even more confused in the end - that's not OK.

In answer to Cappuzzi09 the numbers in brackets are what's left of my vegetables in my resources after giving 20 to Sambor. For example, I grew 58 beetroots, and after giving Sambor 20, I was left with 38. There was 0 carrots showing in the bracketed numbers because I only grew 20. If I had grown 21 there would be 1 shown. Since I have all 20 of the vegetables for Sambor, why won't he take them?

No...
The number in brackets is what you currently have in your inventory.
Meaning, Sambor asks for 20 and you have 0.

Good grief; just open your inventory and count the vegetables you carry. I honestly don't understand that your reaction to all the explanation was to make another reply with questions and assumptions instead of just looking in your inventory.

Those numbers show you have 0 cabbage. You must have all 80 items on your person when you give them to him.

I mean there has to be a point where you have to help yourself. I mean you didn't even check your inventory? Newness has nothing to do with that unless this is your first video game you have ever played.

To Wizard of Woz, I misunderstood the bracketed numbers, I know I had grown many cabbages and picked them in Autumn, they might have rotted away and I didn't know it.
To nl_toplitz , I guess this was one of those moments :)
