Missing villagers
Hello - I have gotten hooked on this game and have managed to figure out some stuff on my own (as you pretty much have to in this game) - I have recently gotten stumped and was hoping for some advice.

To give you more experienced players a rough idea of where I think that I am in the progression of the game, I would say that I have almost reached the middle to later part of the bronze age as all of the bronze tools and weapons are open to me - Roughly 11 game years I believe - I have had some of the buildings move into the building II phase and the houses into the "House" phase - I am at the maximum limit of (35) structures (I still have the bear to kill for the (45) structures).

I have a hunter in the hunter II building, a fisherman, a person at the saw mill making logs and (2) villagers in the extraction hut - So, I decided I was ready to get a cook - I found one and build her a house and figured I would romance her later as well.

Everybody (that is my villagers) seemed happy with around a positive 25% rate - So much food it was turning into rot and decilitres of water and plenty of housing - Two pairs of villagers have an offspring now (I am keeping an eye on family size vs. amount of bed space in a given home)

Once I got the cook, I double checked to make sure she had her own house (for now) and was working - Also, I thought that I had made sure that everyone had tools and food an water before I ran to my cave/mine where I had set up a smithy and a resource hub so that I could refine the ore (copper/tin/salt) and then put the bars into the community chest - I do not have the mining tent yet - I spent (2) days there and then slept at the end of the season to get a free ride home.

QUESTION: When I returned I notice that my log lady and the fisherman and one of the extractors had vanished - I am at a loss and was wondering what I had over looked - I realize that there mat be more than one answer but I would be pleased if you could send some suggestions or advice my way.

QUESTION: My village has yet to be attacked by animals or marauders - Do the villagers help defend in such a situation or do they just stand around?

1. Are you villagers still in the management menu? They may just be wandering around.

2. Your village won't get attacked.

You had enough firewood? And/or axes for the person in the wood shed?

Maybe send the bughunters a save before and after your loss, if you dont figure it out, to see if something going on.
Workers who are near resources go to collect those resources. They may be near a clay pit or cutting a tree.

Thanks for the feedback - The work stations in question show no one assigned anymore.

I thought that maybe that I had exceeded the number of villagers that can be assigned to work stations for my level.

I was rather frazzled when that happened - Maybe I will go back in to see if they are still assigned to their houses - I don't remember if I did that.

Thanks for the information on whether or not the village would be attacked.

I think that I figured it out after I checked the houses for occupancy - They were in the houses but their profession changed to Mother once they had babies - I will need to replace at least (1) of their jobs - I wonder if they will rejoin the workforce later on or keep having babies?

Yes after 2 years.

They will have the profession “Mother” for two years (8 season changes) after giving birth to a child. Then they will become available to assign to a different profession.
Note: they will not automatically go back to the profession they had before becoming a Mother - you will need to assign them to a work place.

The size of the house determines whether they will have a second child. The smallest house which states it can have 3 people in it will mean the couple will only have one child. The other two houses which say 4 maximum means they will have a second child.

Yeah maternity leave. This is why I give my townsfolk the best of the best limestone houses with plank ceilings and all the decorations, but always put them in 3 bed houses. My first play everyone had 4 bed palaces and the population boom, as well as the rolling maternity leave, almost crippled my workforce and production lol.

Just a problem if you have rushed, and built to many houses at once.
