Multi Barns and Farming
I have 2 barns (1 for Flax/Veges and 1 for Oats/Rye). If I keep the seeds or grain in their relative Barns and have workers at both Barns, will they try to get seeds or grain from each others Barns.
If they do, I will get a warning because for example, Beetroot seeds won't be in the Oats/Rye Barn and the Oat seeds won't be in the Flax/Veges Barn.
I can't see a way of keeping the workers allotted to a particular Barn to work on certain fields.

While workers are assigned to specific barns, fields are not (not assigned to a specific barn and not assigned to a specific farmer).

With regards to seeds - place those in your Resource Storage building so they're available to all your farmers equally. If you place them in a given barn's chest, only the farmers assigned to that barn can access them.

OK Thank you. I tend to keep the Resource Storage clear so I know where I am up to, but the seeds and grain should not be a big issue.
In the past, I have cleaned out the Resource Storage bins only to find there was something that should have been left in there. Ageing memory I am afraid. :steamsad: Cheers and thank you larrysteele.

Being able to assign a field to a certain barn would be a really nice thing to have.

It's the other way round. If there are useable tools/resources in the workplace-chest, the assigned workers of that building will use them first.

There might be an issue, as fields are not linked to barns. What if a field worker of barn 1 gets assigned by the game to a field which needs the seeds of barn 2. They won't be able to access them.

Put the seeds in the resource storage where both barns can access them. As farmers work on the first field/orchard with work available they will need to access them.

Build your barns distance apart so they do not interfere with each other.

Yep! Thanks for the catch. Not sure what I was thinking when I wrote that. I edited my post so future readers won't get led astray.

Dont mather if its 5 meter, 500 meter or 5000 meters... Interfer with each other the same, either way.

Any field out of range of the barn will not be attended to.
If your 2 barns are far enough apart, I don't mean 500 metres, farmers in each barn will only attend to fields in their own range.
It will be up to you to work out the max range of a barn.
hubbemattsson Nov 20, 2022 @ 12:27am
Thats wrong. They will as likely go to the fields thats out of range.

Yes, I have had farmers attend fields left at my old village a long way from the barn. The thing is they only attend these if time permits. Closer fields seem to be done 1st ??? This is my experience so far.

Yes, they work outwards from a barn, nearest field first.

I have had the opposite experience with fields out of range not being worked on at all, having to work them myself.
This was a while back so may be some things have change, I will test it again and let you know.

Maybe to many fields, and to big of a travel distance then.
Has atlesst not got changed, even if some part has got changed, thats not one.
