Plant trees?
I have not played for a while and could not remember if a way was added to replant trees or not. Anyone?

You can't plant normal trees. There's only 4 types of fruit trees you can plant and that's only in the orchard squares.

The normal trees you chop down do regrow after 2 ingame years as long as you don't remove the stump. If you removed the stump with a shovel, they will be gone forever.

for me, I just want to plant normal trees willy nilly to help curb my urge to put foliage everywhere. I want every house to have a maple tree next to it. I also want maple syrup.

At this stage, normal trees cannot be planted. Maybe in the future.

For Maple syrup you need to play through a minimum of 600 years so the America's can be discovered and with them Acer saccharum, Acer campestre can't produce maple syrup

I'm sure that's exactly why the game doesn't have sap-tapping. :-) Such accuracy!
But there's nothing wrong about hanging buckets for the look.

Mahla the sap from birch has been collected at least in Finland for centuries and after water evaporates it becomes similar to syrup.

Oh yea and would like plantable trees ingame other than orchards.

I want it just because when I'm building there's a tree in the way and I need the stump gone. I'd love to be able to put the building up and then replant it, even right next to where it was originally.

I was thinking about starting a new game and I would start near the main town. I think after unlocking horses I would want to move away, but then I would want to fix the area I cleared for my original spot.

How do you plant the fruit trees?

I have both seeds and manure in inventory and i can't plant.

Also can't add seeds or manure to bags either simple or anything.

Is it on purpose that things are not logical and you have to pay 20000gold for blueprints?

You need to place an orchard to plant fruit trees. Make sure it's an orchard and not a field. You need to grub it up one time as well but you don't need manure. After it's grubbed you equip a bag, right click and select the sapling. Then just click on the orchard tile and it's planted.

It's probably advised you have a look at the knowledge tab ingame as a lot of things are explained there.

Yes i forgot about the rightclick menu, so that is totally my own fault. XD
(need to equip and hold bag, then rightclick for anyone wondering)

Got both saplings and farms planted now, so all good thank you. :D

Edit: is there any way to rotate farm and orchards fields?
It looks a bit random what angle they are plottet at.

Fields and orchards are fixed at North-South/East-West orientation.

The devs encountered issues when placing fields that were not aligned as above. Many problems with graphics, animations, and work calculations popped up and the more they tried working through each bug, the worse it got. Once they fixed it to the N-S/E-W orientation, they were able to get Unreal Engine to process correctly. Even though we should "never say never," this is one thing that will never change.

Also, if you watch the tips during game load, you may see text that tells you it's restricted and then tell you "it's the law."

I guess that's the only sane reaction to such a weird issue. xD

Thank you for the explanation.

yep it be good if sapling sticks to some settable extend would regrow int trees, not all of course some be eaten, trampled down or collected for the sticks, but if by default a little percentage would grow into full trees in 2-3 years it be fine - adjustable in game settings of course to increase the amount a little.
