New update, DX12 "can be enabled", how to enable it?
I am unable to find this option in any of the settings.

Great stuff, any chance for DLSS / FSR support?

Mine has always said DirectX 11 until this update. I will say it has something to do with your system. Possibly needs a Windows update, chipset or GPU drivers update. Press the Windows key + R and type in dxdiag, press Enter. Windows will run a DirectX diagnostic and tell you which version of DirectX is installed on the first tab, it should specifically say DirectX Version: DirectX 12. If the next two tabs have Display 1 and Display 2, then you have both an integrated gpu and discrete gpu. Both of those tabs will tell you which drivers are installed for the respective gpu and whether those drivers are Direct3D 12 (DirectX 12) compliant. If those drivers do not show Direct3D DDI: 12 then DirectX 12 is not installed or they are not DirectX 12 compliant.

If you have Display 1 and Display 2 tabs and all the drivers are up-to-date then you need open your GPU's control panel and tell it to use the High Performance (discrete) gpu to render your game.

Since your game settings say "temp", my guess is you do have a integrated gpu and that is the one the game is set to use.

appreciated, however the integrated gpu is not a possibility since my i5 is an F version. it was slightly cheaper than the non F version because it does not have integrated graphics on the chip at all.

The chipset drivers will be updated by the computer's manufacturer. Each manufacturer turns on and off various chipset options for their system. Windows does not supply chipset drivers. Since you have an Intel I5 cpu the chipset is also made by Intel. Intel will have the updated drivers for the chipset.

The Display 1 and Display 2 in DirectX diagnostics refers to gpu 1 and gpu 2, not your physical screen, aka monitor. If your system just has a discrete gpu then DirectX diagnostics will show Display 1 only.

my pc doesn't have a manufacturer, so when i installed my i5 i manually acquired and installed the updated driver from intel.

i'm almost positive this is because of being played through XBOX Game Pass and they encrypt their games/.exe(s)

i plan on purchasing this game through steam when my game pass runs out, and for multiple reasons:

support the studio

have a non encrypted game so i can make use of my freesync setup and further optimize it
with radeon settings

and i don't plan on keeping Game Pass in the near future

once i purchase on steam, at the very least i will post here to see if my assumptions about the encrypted version are correct. perhaps i won't have to if the XBOX version is the cause of it and it is able to be remedied.

as always, cheers everyone!

So your saying you have a do-it-yourself computer, aka you bought individual parts and assembled the your own computer? If this is the case then you should know what I'm telling you about DirectX Diagnostics, aka dxdiag. What brand of motherboard do you have?

I have built six desktop computers from the ground up and refurbished several others over the years so I know some manufacturer had to build the motherboard.

yes, i build computers on occasion, what exactly are you asking me? what do you want to know?
Bobby Digital™ Nov 7, 2022 @ 2:54pm
after an initial windows update, all my different components get the latest manufacturers drivers, it's always the first thing i before i start installing software

gigabyte b460
10400f
rx580
16 gigs ddr4 2666

windows update is automatic
i have radeon settings on constantly so i know when a gpu driver is released
i never miss any updates

let me know if you want to know anything more specific

I guess nothing really.

You said "I am unable to optimize the game using Radeon settings because XOBX games are encrypted."

It doesn't matter that Xbox gamepass encrypts the game files. I'm just surprised you don't realize the Raedon control panel will select settings on a generic basis and they will override the game's settings when you start the game. The thing to remember is not to have conflicting settings between the RCP settings and the game's graphics options.

somehow we got off track, i'm trying to figure out if it's possible to enable dx12 running the game through the encrypted game pass version of this game, or, if that is even the issue.

i guess we won't know unless someone that plays this game through game pass sees this and lets me know or if the devs can get back and can say if it's a game pass thing or not.

have a good one, appreciate your input.

It may be possible to create an exe to launch from your desktop and set this to use -dx12

But to be completely honest, I don't use Gamepass, I'm not sure.
Bobby Digital™ Nov 8, 2022 @ 3:17am
I'll look into that and see if it's possible

Just an FYI: my GTX760 is DX12 compatible, but I get better framerate when setting it to DX11.
Kahai Nov 12, 2022 @ 3:50pm
Gamepass version here as well. Also Temp rendering, greyed out. Preeeety sure my RTX 3090 can run DX12 just fine.
