Maybe next year when co-op comes they'll expand the map a bit? Who knows; there's no info on how co-op will be implemented yet either.
No it wouldn't. The "storyline" not that there is one would be easily adaptable, everything else is just interactions with people/wildlife/fauna.
Your best bet is an expansion to the existing one. And then they could even make that expansion a procedurally generated one like wizard suggested, which would be awesome.
I'd rather call it common nonsense.
