Report a translation problem
1. assign a worker to the wood shed (looks like you did this already)
2. go to the management tab of the building and set the assignment (specific task to perform) for the building in the second subtab - for example 100% producing logs.
3. make sure you have the tools needed for the job (what tools/materials you need is shown in the assignments) either in the resource storage building chest, or in the woodshed building chest itself so your worker can access them. For logs this will be an axe.

That should do the trick.
If you don't see any logs appear (they'll appear in the resource storage building chest if you have one, or otherwise in the chest of the woodshed itself), it might be that while they are being produced, your villagers are instantly burning them for fuel so you never get to see them.

At first they won't really produce that much as their skill levels are low. Just leave them to it and continue with your stuff.
