Crop seed reserves
I would like my farmers to not use every seed in crafting things. With that in mind I would like to suggest that farmers either don't use the seeds needed to plant a designated farm plot or let you put a reserve limit on seeds for planting via the ui on either storage or farmhouse/windmill plz.

You do limit the seeds - each farm plot square is one seed. So if you have a 4x4 plot its 16 seeds. The rest is surplus seeds for flour or you can sell - as long as you save the number of seeds per plot saved for next season. If your flour and animal feed production is taking all your seeds, turn down the percentage of how much to make. There is a lot of micromanaging in the game, a lot by trial and error.
I see what you mean, seed being used to make animal feed or flour but honestly I've never had a problem with this since I always run with a pretty big surplus of seeds anyway (and production of animal feed etc. set only to what is needed.

I guess a reserve could be implemented, in which case I'd really like to see one for market stalls as well so that they don't sell the last axe needed by the woodsman (or whatever).

it should be automatic to reserve seeds needed to plant there should not be any need for a village elder/leader to go to the storage and move seeds around so the farmers who should know what they are doing does not use the seeds.

Seeds are used in planting, animal feed, and kitchen and clothing/lights (flax to linen items). If your running out of seeds for your fields, turn down the amount of baked items in your kitchen, your flour production (which should be only done with wheat seeds) and your animal feed your barn worker makes.

TIP - you don't need to make flour and baked goods for a while in game - turn them off and let a few years go by to accumulate a large amount of seeds. You should have more than enough after a few years.

I turned stuff off a long time ago and do it on my own... I have not been looking for tips... I wanted to suggest a QoL improvement which is very much so needed in my opinion. And just for reference I am not new to game or just starting a new play through.

Thats cool - sorry for the tip.
I just don't understand what problem your having that you suggesting a QoL change. I been in this game for 2000+ hours and find no need for what you asking so thats why I suggesting alternatives to help you.

It is fine if you don't understand. However I truly don't understand how you don't understand how seed reserves would be a good thing. So many ppl have posted all over on wanting tips and tricks for this... all you gotta do is google it and you will see how many ppl this would help.

The game could do with being able to set limits on what resources they use and what they create. It gets rather annoying having to hide stuff or constantly readjust work intensity otherwise they will happily use up all of a certain resource, or make more tools than you would ever use.

You will overproduce a lot in the game after a while - that is why they gave us vendors to sell it off.

@NickTwist I think we get the fact you are against this idea and you don't think it is needed... however your game experience is not the same for everyone. I for one am running a mining/tool producing one and only have 5 16x16 farms 1 for each crop I need to make 2 foods and animal feed along with flax for Bows. With just 1 miscalculation I could run out of any seed easily. Also i Can't just go get more farmers anymore since my 4 mines take 6 ppl each. Yes I could just do a farming village but why would I want to do another farming village since I have already done that. I know there are plenty of ppl out there that would understand that. Not to mention It is just a QoL improvement for most ppl. I specified seeds but to be honest I think anything you make you should be able to set a reserve on it or tell you smiths to not make more then 5 axes for the storage and keep it at 5 wIth out having to do the math on how long an axe lasts for each worker then calculating how much is produced in a day of work. It is nothing more then QoL for ppl that like the game but wish it was more do what ya want and less spreed sheet math.

Ah - Your first post didn't say you were making a mining village. I was under the assumption you were running out of seeds somewhere and want to be able to reserve them. You should suggest this in feedback - dev more likely to actually read it there.

I would like this. Not just for seeds but also for cooking ingredients. Some items i just don't want my cooks to use up completely cause i have plans for them later either for myself or for different recipes.
Right now I hide them in my house chest, but it would be handier not to have to do that, especially with food since that will spoil less quickly in the food storage chest.

We already have something similar for their demands, we can enable/disable what they consume. Shouldn't be too difficult to do something like it for this.
