*Edit - as of right now on this day, I have 9 of my villagers (who all have assigned jobs) currently not even in my village, but walking roads quite a ways away from the village. So now there are even -more- of them.
While I understand that they can still produce, my town looks extremely, empty. Like I have my herbalist and my smith next to each other, and neither of them are there, or there is just no one at my workshop or the like. Having 9 villagers just not in the town while working when I only have about 30 who are even able to work, really just breaks the immersion of my busy town. It just looks dead and its extremely annoying.
Also, this does happen with my farmers as well. My wife is set as a farmer and for 2 days of the season she was way off on the road near Denica instead of working in the fields. Our house is literally next to the barn and field where she is assigned.
Maybe you should try posting a save game here of when they are walking on that far away road, so the bug hunters can take a look.
I will see if I can figure out what building it was, as I had expanding my town with quite a few buildings around the same time. Another forum post elsewhere mentioned using some walls around my town as well to try and keep them from wandering. I will give these things a shot and come back here if the issue remains. Thanks for the advice!
