It's the opposite !!! Trees will regrow from their stump after two years. But if you remove the stump, that tree is gone forever!

As above says, adding use a shovel to remove a stump. When out running around the country find a great area with lots of trees and cut those down. If you looked at the settings whe you started a new game you coiuld give yourself unlimited carry weight really makes life easy.

An unlimited load capacity can also be set during a running game. It actually makes life easier. But in my opinion, it is far too little demanding for it to actually be an interesting option.
But now to the trees:
Unfortunately, no new trees grow out of the branches sprouting everywhere. The only chance to make a felled tree grow again in the same place is not to remove its stump.

I'm not so sure about this. I deliberately left a couple of maple branches/sticks near a road sign and they grew into trees.

That doesn't happen. I promise.

I like you, really wish this rumour would die a death already

It can be difficult for some minds to grasp that this is a game controlled by codes.
Even in real life trees dont grow back from sticks lol stumps however have roots in the ground already awaiting the season to commence growing shoots you know branches. XD

Memories of Dontstarve, the seeds filling out your inv, planting and in around 2 days having a small forest….

On my EA-Map, I dug them out, too. Just for the additional log. Huge :steamfacepalm:-moment, when I read about the regrow-mechanic for the first time!

Actually, that is not entirely true, there is one tree that grows from branches, this tree is also the most resident to forest fires, if we had that tree in the game it may be possible, and the name of the Tree is called the Aspen Tree, it sprouts branches and grows upwards every year, but its lower branches are weak and limber if they touch the ground or fall off the tree and touch the ground and get covered up they will grow a new aspen tree where it lies. This trees are climate sensitive to only certain climates in the higher elevation, and even though the Sierra Nevada have mountains high enough for them to grow it is way to humid for them to grow there. They only grow in the forest of the high rocky mountains. These trees can have their outer bark completely burned off and the next season new sprouts will branch from them. When threatened by fire they produce a thin water surgar sap that coats the internal portion of the tree allowing the outer bark to burn and the water surgar burn instead of the inner bark which keeps them alive.

@Sid
Integrating such a grow-mechanic into MD might cause a forest-fire in your PC ;-P

Not the newer PC the older ones might might explode, but maybe that may be a good thing for the older PC too, just not too soon not until my new one is built.

Anyone know what the one tree in the whole map that you can not cut down is all about?
