I started this 2 weeks ago and one problem is fishing. I built my settlement to the West of the second bridge from Gostovia.
Between the 2 bridges are 4 fishing spots in the river. In the lake... West of the 2nd bridge on the south shore is one place for Perch. Across the lake are 2 places for pike, but your fisherman won't go there. That means building a 2nd fishing hut across the water.
Please add more fish to this lake. Actually.... there are areas around the lake with the small island that not only could use more fish, but a variety of fish in one location that fishermen can get to.
Also; the diversity of different fish species does not matter for your fisherman, since he'll bring in the raw fish meat directly, not the whole fish.
The species only matters when you are spear-fishing yourself (since the bigger fish will get you more fish meat).
That being said; I would really love it if they added the ability to fish with fishing rods in the game. And maybe a small fishing raft so you could fish relaxing in the middle of the lake or something. The game can be so relaxing and this would really add to it imo; though we would also perhaps need a bit more recipes for fish if they were going to expand on the fishing.
plenty of processing power left here..
not see the issue.
but personally I'd like first to see NUTS.
hazelnut bushes
summer : pick unripe ones off
autumn : pick ripe ones off
winter : can find some on ground below, perhaps with 50% hp.
chestnut trees
summer : pick unripe ones off
autumn : pick ripe ones off
winter : can find some on ground below, perhaps with 50% hp.
beech nut trees
drop below in autumn in large numbers
oak trees
summer : if cut down get unripe acorn
autumn : ripe acorn drop below
winter : some ripe acorn at 50% hp can be found below
acorn would be used only to make annimal feed
chestnut must be roasted before consumable cant. eaten raw
beech nuts are mildly toxic if eten raw but noy when roasted.
hazelnut can be eaten raw
add a couple recepies using nuts.
Also, while not a bad idea in itself, not really relevant in a topic talking specifically about fish...
thanks for noticing.
....
I drives me nuts -pun intented- when old topics get necrod
cant you just make a rule against that? or lock all those old posts
Fish Meat - Roach
Fish Meat X4 - Perch
Fish Meat x7 - Pike
When I select any of the 3 I get a message "No resources". Down below it shows the fish and a knife with 2 durability. I have a ton of knives available in the resource shed. Am I completely missing something??
I believe those are the fishing net options, as that confused me at first as well. You must provide your fishermen with a fishing spear, and its best to balance the fishing with the dry meat option. In my current playthough I'm going with the fishing village, and my four fishermen are averaging 5 on the skill level, with a slight bump in the skills to both pricing and NPC productivity. They're producing 600+ dried fish meat per five day season, which comes out to 3600 coin per season at a sale price of 6 per fish. Fully maxed out in skill level, and that becomes 7200 per season, or 360 coins per fisherman a day with just the four fishermen. At half the max production, you'll need about 35 fishing spears. I only had 30 made for the year, so had to buy a few linen threads at 70 per to compensate. I had a small flax field that I just expanded significantly, and will easily be able to handle all of my linen needs. My population eats meat and veggies, so all fish produce is sold to market. I just bought a pair of piglets, so soon I'll have everything I need for maximizing profits. The only expenses then would be taxes on the buildings, including the workers houses. One farmer can easily take on the entire flax field solo, but I prefer to max out the farmers as you're paying taxes on each building anyway.
For those that claim fishing isn't worth it, I can prove otherwise. Fishing spears cost one log, one stone, and one linen thread, and the durability isn't the same as other tools, which I think is where some of the confusion lies. Yes, good fishermen can go thru a lot of fishing spears. They can also provide you with literally tons of fish to either eat or bring to market for solid profits, and you don't even have to worry about making fishing nets if you don't care to.
Just went and tried this...
I went to the 2 places that displays Pike across from my village. Got 13 pike, brought it back and put in the food storage, went to the fishing hut... well the selection in the menu... clicked on the last option... and it worked. The way that I read this then... 13 x 7 should be 91 pieces of fish?
Why am I going to get the fish if all they do is clean it?
This would be like having options of deer or moose at the hunting lodge. I kill the deer or moose, put it in the food storage... and they clean it?
makes no sense.
I guess the devs really wanted you to have the possibility to have every possible task also done by your villagers. And that includes the smaller ones, like this one.
Maybe you enjoy spear-fishing a lot, and bring home a lot of whole fish (or maybe buy the whole fish from vendors - never paid attention whether they sell whole fish) but don't want to spend the time turning it into fish meat?
I dunno, I found it confusion as well when I started playing. :-)

Atleast one bandit camp (one near Jezerica on the road to Lesnica after the stream but before the road rises into the hills (near the wisent) have whole fish in a basket.
