This is a coincidence? Looks almost identical to me. (see link)
Yes, different publishers, but have you ever heard two bands that you think sound a lot alike, then you find out it is because the guitarist and drummer are the same? Same thing happens a lot with programmers. They are the real talent.

... talking out of your ... I kinda like that idea xD
Fun aside, graphics look awesome in both games and also the design of villages and such is equally well done in both games (in my opinion).
But to answer OPs question:
KCD was developed by Warehorse Studios (iirc) whily MD is made by Render Cube.
And the engine isn't the same as well, KCD runs on Cry Engine while MD is based on Unreal Engine.
So, all similarities might be because we have a similar idea (although a different approach) thus a similar interface and similar menu pages shouldn't be that much of a surprise.
Try to display a personal inventory and a storage inventory at the same time so you're able to compare their content and move stuff from one to the other - how many (working) ideas can you come up with?
Edit:
changed "Unity" to "Unreal Engine"
I can tell that Warhorse and Toplitz are two different names.
Did you guys perhaps license the same game engine that Warhorse used? You must admit the inventory screens look very similar and the layout is exactly the same. Just curious because KCD was an amazing game. The only thing it was missing is all of your custom building.
I have also always wondered why in literature, movies, and music nobody cares who the studio is. I have never once heard someone say "Have you seen the latest Paramount movie?". Everyone identifies those media by the talent.
However, in Video games, it is always the Studio that gets all the credit, and programmers are nameless and unknown. It is a very strange thing.
Anyway, I purchased your game and look forward to checking it out.
Thank you.
Edit: Wait! Capuzzi! Unity! How could you?! xD
Welcome aboard!
"One of us! One of us!"
Ooops - my bad. Both are starting with "U" and my brain is a bit foggy at the moment...
