Lech the Lazy from Hornica
On a visit to Hornica I got chatting to a chap called Lech and as he seemed to be a pretty keen farmer I offered him a place in my village, gave him a nice stone house and set him up with a job as farmer.

On his first day he spent the whole day in bed. Well, I thought, it's a long walk from Hornica, I guess he's worn out. But he would not get out of bed on the second day either and would not wake up even when I jumped on his lazy head.

Eventually I decided that I'd evict him from his house in the hope that this would get him moving. He just went and stood in the street looking sullen. Maybe he'd prefer a different job I thought, so I asked the girl who looks after the stable to go and do the field work (which she kindly did) and gave him that job. No movement. Tried him on a couple of other jobs (blacksmithing, woodworking) but he just stood in the same position in the street. So I took his job away and left him there.

Next day he was still standing there so I thought I'd give him another chance, I gave him another house and the farming job again. He just went and stood outside his house.

So I kicked him out of the village. He hung around for a few days and eventually left taking 50 of my reputation points with him (lazy AND a points thief).

My advice: if you see this man avoid him.

The next time you experience something like this, please save the game and upload the save so that we can investigate further in this save to see if there might have been a bug. For now it is too late, as you have already kicked your farmer out of your village.
Still, next time please inform us about such strange occurrences (that's what the bug section in the forum is for) and please share your save. That would help us to make the game better for you and all other players.
Thanks a lot!

I'm guessing from your comments that you work for Toplitz or Render Cube so you'll be happy to hear that it appears to have been fixed in the latest Public Staging version.

I just tried the old save in both the current release and in Public Staging and the problem is there in the release version but gone in staging.

That's good to hear. :)
Actually I'm neither working for Toplitz nor do I work for Render Cube.
However, I'm a member of the Bughunter's team and as such I work very close with the developers (Render Cube) and we always are eager to get saves with possible bugs, see if and how we can reproduce them and help the devs getting them fixed.

Anyway, good to know that this one is solved in the public version.

If you stumble across bugs again, please reach out to us in the bug-section of this forum.
That would help us all.

Thanks for the reply and have a nice weekend. :)

I got quest from my wife to get her some legendary fish soup. Went to the guy did his quest gave him a wisent skull got soup. Then I asked him to join my settlement and to my surprise he said sure. It took him almost 3 days to walk to my settlement and when he got there he went to bed and never got up.

I click on him and said he doesn't want talk to me. Changed houses sometime he walk to the new one and goes back to bed other times he just stand somewhere with his hands on his hips. Tried changing jobs he never went to work but most job he would improve the production some how from his bed.

This guy a lvl 6 fisherman and I now have him as a almost lvl 4 barn worker. He legit beats wheat in his dreams.

Never heard it called that before :steammocking:

Joking aside, yes, different NPC same problem. Guessing you'll see the fix when the current test version is released, unless you want to switch to the "public staging" test version (which is fine).

Not my game he sleeps in his bed all day and all night. I've now moved him to the herbalist hut where his picking plants and is brewing potions in his dreams.

I got another quest from my wife to go see this lady that new to the valley that upsetting some other settlement. I go there to check it out, turns out someone sold her a deed to the land and that not how thing's work in the valley. Everything free game as long you pay the kings taxes and don't step on the toes of your neighbours. She pretty crush having wasted all her money on the deed that's worthless.

So I invite her to my settlement. I've score a lvl 6 farmer but guess what? That's right she also sleeps in her bed all day and night. I've now place her and Roland in the same house sleeping 24/7 to see if they breed and have a mobile child.

It's pretty clear at this point that the event quest NPCs are heavy bugged. But apparently the Devs are looking in to it.

I had an issue where one of my villagers stood outside her house. ALL day AND night. Rain, snow, heat, you name it - she didn't move.

Wait, it gets better.

Somehow, amidst all of that, she got pregnant.

Wait, it gets better.

She then transitioned to standing outside, weather regardless, holding her newborn, at all hours of the day and night.

That was some creepy stuff, to come back to the village in the dead of night, snow everywhere, to see her standing, alone, child in arms.

I swear if she had started chanting Latin or Cthulu, I would not have been shocked. At all.

It's all too easy to identify with our NPC's. I see some in winter changed into warm furs and gloves while others sit freezing in summer clothes and I really want to be able to give them something warm to wear :steamsad:

My wife prefers staying in our home to going to her market stall, but it seems the market part gets done.
I suppose it's because she's a Snob, but still I'd be happier if I saw her working for real.

I moved my wife to the Seamstress once she was level 10 in the farming and after she had the Heir and returned to work 2 years later.
She is happy and goes to work everyday. Insure workers have assignments,
When our villagers have new jobs they can lose a little happiness in the beginning but eventually it goes back up.

Click on what kind of skill knowledge you have a bunch time. I've seen some of them have around up to 4 different thing they like doing. Than click on thing you have a hard time with a bunch time and see what they don't like doing. Just because someone a lvl 3 Extraction and likes hard sweaty simple work you might think this person a great Lumberjack or Miner.

Than you click on thing that give you a hard time and they say they don't like walking around the forest and stuff. Well if you give them a job to go mine clay for 10 hours a day they hate their job and their Extraction skill will hardly increase.

Same deal if someone is lvl 3 in Survival you might think yes Herbalist but they say that have no sense of direction and could have full basket of mushroom and not know where to go. Well even though they have skill in Survival they're not going to be a good herbalist.

I'm not sure why someone jester award my last post. That is quite literally how NPCs skill lvl exp gain works. Plus the amount of things they make/gather/mood a day.
