Dumb question but do chicken and goose egg's actually hatch or are they just a food source? Would prefer to hatch my own rather than keep buying chicken's and geese from other farms.

Geese and chicken reproduce, just like all other animals. But the offspring doesn't come from eggs, they are just a food source.

The egg itself is for cooking or to sell. If you have a rooster and few chicken they will reproduce but you wont see the eggs.

Ok thanks for the help guys. Seems a bit strange i cant hatch eggs but ok i think its the same for some other things like fruit tree's i can grow and eat them but still have to buy seeds from other farmers ? i guess the devs have their reasons.

There is a % chance that the animal will reproduce every season. for each male you have that % is added to each female. So if you have only 1 male, 2 male will double the chances.

For the crops, the harvesting gives you more seeds, so you have to keep enough to sow the field for next season. This way you never buy again seeds.

Ok thanks mate but i don't seem to get any seeds from my fruit trees. I would have thought a fruit farmer would keep a percentage of the fruit for the seeds rather than buy them from else where.

You don't get seeds from fruit trees. I real life most fruit trees are not grown from seeds. Hence in game you buy saplings not seeds.

You only need to buy a fruit tree once and will get fruit every season, unlike all the other crops where you need seeds each year or season. I think that's why the devs made this decision.

All animals reproduce over time.
You will not have to buy anymore.
Goats and sheep can be kept in the same pen.

Once the animal reaches maturity be it chook rooster goose cow bull pigs sheep goats mule horse, open your management click on animals then select one of the animals from the list here you can see the age of them and holding X below you can sell them for cash.

In the game press q and select farming then orchard you can plant fruit tree from saplings which can be purchases or found at over turned carts.
Takes a few seaons before they fruit then the same trees will produce every year for many years.
To grow more fruit trees sapling we have to buy more saplings. Orchards are very low maintinence.

Set your barn workers to produce flour and seeds and grains, from fields.

Also im sure they call the apple saplings seeds in the game but i may be wrong i tend to not notice things sometimes.

I did and i hope you dont mind but as you helped point me in the right direction i named her after you . Couldn't think of a name so hope that's ok and not too weird or something.

I don't name my animal except my horse and my donkey. But I do have fun naming the houses base on the occupants. Like "Lara Craft"

I name my pigs after British politicians i dont like or some are just for fun the rest i will make up as i go.
