As above as there seems to be a plaque on each one? Secondly how can I get 1000 logs for the quest?

Actually I don't remember using an axe. I don't remember cutting 1000 logs, either. Are you quite sure you have to cut 1000 logs?

As for naming buildings, you can certainly name houses (and I find this very handy), but houses don't have name boards that I've noticed. I've not tried naming any other type of building.

Animals, buildings and fields can be named. The easiest way to check is in the management menu, it shows you if there is a naming option.

As the othes have hinted at, there are different ways to complete this quest, but if you get 1000 logs there is an achievement for it .
