Kings Challenges Later in game

I have been waiting 6 years for another King challenge. I am in Year 36 and have only had 16 challenges presented in total. the last one was in year 30. Is there a trick to getting them more often? Or if not, could they be more regular later in game when all Chapter and Story quests are completed. The game can get a bit boring if you only have bandits and seasonal quests to do. All my building at at max. Now I am waiting for my villagers to die just to have something to think about.

There is an 'exploit' to force Kings challenges. Save right before the season end. If challenge does not pop up, reload the game and the game will regenerate quests/potential challenge. Try it until the challenge appears.
It's extremely cheasy, but that's the only way to make them appear more often.

Its just random if the herold spawn or not.

Saved the game just before new season, went to next season. Did this 50 times and did not get a challenge. Also, only got the 4 same events over the course of those reloads. I have played over 3500 hours of this game and never had this issue before the last update. Not sure why. Not to worry. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

I thought there was supposed to be a random event generator for the challenges?? The workaround is time consuming if you are forced to do it multiple times and it still doesn't work. I am 27 years into one game and have had only 2 challenges. Seems like a bug the developer should work on.
