Where to build my village?
First time I played this I choose to build by the two bridges in the west between Rolnica and Denica. It was a nice spot I guess.
But I want to build somewhere else this time around. Any suggestions? A big flat surface would be nice.

any where there are not too many obstacles, large rocks, mining nodes or steep inclines. You can however build on two or more levels, there is a spot I particularly like at the foot of a tall waterfall it has plenty of resources near by and a smallish area to build a few houses and some hunting and lumber buildings. At the top of the waterfall is a large flattish area good for farming, or down stream on the river bank another good place for farming and all the other buildings you might need. you can find the site by standing in the first village you are directed to facing the river/lake turn right and follow the river until you come to a stream flowing into the river. on the other side of the stream is flat farming area. Follow the small stream to the falls and the second farming area is at the top of the falls on the left. One further piece of advice farmers need to live near their work, other workers do not need to.

The best spots are around the big lake. The small river between Lesnica and Jesnica has a few interesting spots. South of the lake on top of the hill are a bigger area. And of course for a beautiful sight, south of the memorial tree or east of Gostovia at the big waterfall.

Thank you for your advice. I actually went to the waterfall before I read your comments. Gonna check it out a bit and see if it feels right.

There are several videos on this topic you can get on utube. they are very helpful.

I went for the location between Denica and Gostovia.
It's a bit more of a slope, so you can't build everywhere and have to puzzle a bit to find a spot for the bigger buildings, but I find the view to be worth it. My idea was to build my house on the upper ledge, together with the animal buildings and then the houses of my villagers and worker buildings in a semi circle around it on the lower ledge. Between that and the water then on the lowest slope, there's enough space for lots of farmland.

That way when I look through my windows, I have a real beautiful view of the mountains behind my house, and the forest and lake in the front. And I can literally look down upon the plebs working for me ;-)

What a scenery, I think it will be my next village location.

The joy of MD is having so many challenging spots to build a village. It doesn't have to be flat and free of obstacles. We have to use our brains to figure out how to maximize a particular spot.

I actually like the small lake south east of Denica where the small river enters it. Obviously Denica is very close and there is a mine within easy walking distance just slightly south of east from the spot. Plenty of trees, hunting and fishing. It's a little bit of a walk back and forth to Gostovia in the beginning but most nice/interesting places are.

I've got a village on the west shore of the lake SE of Denica with fields and plenty of animals nearby for Night Hunt. It's beautiful at sunset.

My latest spot is in the extreme SE corner of the map, east of the lake that is east of Hornica.

Clay deposits, a Mine, lots of flat ground, (orchards feed my entire town) an underground river, and Hornica, which has a blacksmith and a tailor, and the most merchants of any town.

Once you get your fields planted, and quests done, you never need to go more than 500m or so from town to do anything.

I decided to build "the cherry lake meadery". Cherry tree orchards that feed my people, and provide a distinctive flavor to my mead, massive apiary setup, 2 taverns, and all the support buildings needed to keep both taverns making mead with no downtime.

I even built an extraction hut WAY up in the mountains, looking down on the rest of the town.

Nice spot, but its look like the South East (right bottom map corner) :steamhappy:
In the west is Jezerica. Hornica in the east.

Weird, I caught that, edited it, and the edit didn't save. Thank you for pointing it out, hopefully the edits take this time.

I've consistently been drawn to the 2nd crossbridge west of Borowo on the south side. Plenty of Maple trees, it starts to transition from open flat lands to forest, plenty of fish & straw to be found in the river, clay & rocks nearby, good area for finding berries & mushrooms, and a good variety of wildlife for hunting. Also quite central to most quests.
