People Are Thirsty
I'm at the Camp stage and don't have enough production tech points to build a workshop to craft a bucket to water my people. And they're too classy to drink from the river, so I guess they're gonna get pissed and leave soon.

Any suggestions? I offered to carry the water in my mouth and spit it into their mouths but that weren't down with that either.

You can buy buckets and waterskins. Sobiemir in Gostovia (the guy with the cows) should have buckets, for example and seamstresses sell waterskins.

Well ... and then there is stealing ... but I didn't say that.

If you are in summer you can gather berries and let them use them as a water source. If on default settings you would need about 30 berries per person per day.
They will also drink any crafted drinks Eg cherry wine, oat beer, that you find at some abandoned camps, fishing spots & wagons. You might also find waterskins and buckets at abandoned campsites or broken wagons.
Or as other have said you can buy buckets & waterskins either empty or with water from a variety of vendors.
The food vendors in Gostovia and Denica for example sell buckets of water for very little considering you’ll score a bucket to reuse after it’s been emptied.

Um... You need 10 tech points to unlock the workshop and the buckets.
That's, for example, 17 stone knives you need to make.
Selling these knifes will also provide you the coins which you need to unlock the blueprint for crafting buckets.
All the above will cost you about 2 minutes of "work" in the game....
Sorry, but I really don't understand your problem.

That's a really good tip. I forgot that, yes. Many foods contain water. The water and food value can be found in the description of each item.

Thanks for the replies folks, appreciate it. My people were in the -90s% mood range, so I got desperate and stole a bucket.

@Capuzzi09, my problem is (was) not knowing what actions generate tech points. I read on the Production Technology screen, "Develop this tech by crafting items and cooking." I tried crafting a bunch of firewood, but I guess that's not an "item" because my points didn't change.

It actually is an "item", but unfortunately crafting firewood only gains you skill points, no tech points.
I didn't mean to offend you, though, I just found it hard to understand how it's hard to get 10 tech points :)

Anyway, in case you felt offended or found my comment being rude, I apologize.
Have fun in the game and if you run into any trouble - feel free to ask. :)

Thanks for the apology. I wasn't offended, just trying to explain how a newb, like me, could get stuck at 4.7 tech points, or where ever I was. I came at the game expecting more of an in game tutorial as I went. If there was a part explaining how the points system works, I must have missed it. Or, more likely, I'm just thick and not using my brain as much as I should.

I like to play new games without trying to get tips from the community until I get frustrated like I did with the bucket. I mean, half the fun is figuring things out. Thanks for the offer to help.

@OP: Haaa, this is not a real fleshed out A.I that is for sure. I'm just happy they don't have to use the washroom because that would mean I would have to tell them when, and where to do their business.

I think the developer can stand to take some time, and work on the A.I here. If someone is thirsty then they would just pick up, and push their faces into the water, and have a snort.

The crazy thing here is that todays developers have no real idea on how to code A.I.

There was one game I played for a short time which offered up a cool feature. When you played the game the game would connect to a server specifically for Artificial Intelligence.

It would record how you played their game.

Then that code would be sifted through, and imported into their game code.

Oh I know sounds suspicious but it wasn't something to really be worried about, it was only used (with your permission of course) for the A.I.

I hope one day someone will design something like this for any game which requires A.I.

And they could go into the forest and eat berries and mushrooms if they were hungry, and everyone could pick up their own sticks to burn if there wasn't enough firewood. In fact, why have the player do anything at all? Let the AI build their own villages and arrange their own needs, and all the player has to do is come by now and then to steal stuff.

If you don't want to manage your people's needs, maybe try a game in the "god game" genre rather than a colony management sim.

Hahaha the part you offered to carry the water in your mouth and spit it to their mouth made me laugh lol . Plant a lot of cabbage, make soup out of it or Get some berries if it's the year for that, You can also walk around the map and find those abandon cart, they have lot's of good stuff , sell and buy bucket or buckets. You can also make some stone knife, so many ways to earn money and buy buckets. You can also use that battle container you use to drink when you thirsty( forgot the name) they also drink from that.
