Limestone and Daub
You can now add limestone and duab to work buildings, farm shelters and storage building. Is there any benefit or just cosmetic?

Only cosmetic for now. Limestone and daub add insultion for houses, so the inhabitants need less firewood. For other buildings it's just cosmetic. A lot of you wished for it to make your villages look nicer.

I came here to ask exactly the same question. Thanks.

I love it - thank you for adding this into the game.

Maybe add a little bit of durability to the building section if you do that?

I've converted all of my houses to limestone to cut down on the demand for firewood, but it doesn't seem to make them more durable. I am constantly repairing them just as I did the wattle houses.

Early in the game I build houses with wattle. Later on, I only built stone houses since I saw no reason to bother with limestone or daub. I presume stone provides more insulation.

For the stone houses, upgrading stone walls with limestone adds insulation value thus cutting down the amount of firewood needed to keep it warm in winter. Daub only works on wattle walled houses.

OK! I'll try it!

Is this still the case with the latest version?
Are there any plans to use seperate stats for them (e.g daub offers lesser insulation compare to limestone or vica versa) ?

Plain wattle houses have the lowest insulation value followed by wattle plus daub. Stone plus limestone has the highest insulating value. You need the Handyman skill to do any upgrades to buildings.

I was assuming we could apply both types of insulations anywhere we like. Turns out daub can only be applied over wood and limestone over stone... I was hoping to mix/match them having a brownish/stonish look on stonehouses and vicaversa...

Since all my houses are from stone. The difference in insulation types doesn't really matter now, for it's already forced to use one.

Thank you so much for your reply anyways.

You can mix-n-match the walls of the houses as you wish. The type of walls / insulation and roof does effect how the npc's feel about living there as well as the amount of firewood needed to keep them warm. The stone / limestone walls and plank roofs gives the most happiness and warmth.

Wood tiles are better than plank roofs, actually.
The order in terms of insulation, impact on residents' happiness and durability is (starting with the worst):
straw --> planks (wooden roof) --> wooden tiles.

I'm not sure if you perhaps meant the same I just wanted to bring up the correct terms as they're used in the game to avoid misunderstandings.

I meant the same, it's just that at this point it has become so automatic for me I don't pay much attention now.
