Kitchen not using food storage?
I've got a kitchen, and I set it to make the simplest - roasted meat using raw meat as the ingridient. I have plenty of raw meat in my food storage, yet I get a "no resources" warning.

I manually transferred some of the meat from the raw storage to the kitchen and it started producing + the warning disappeared.

Is this some kind of known issue or am I missing something?

Did you accidentally tell it to make roasted meats from salted meats instead of normal meats? There's 2 roasted meat recipes in there. It should just take from the food storage, no problems here

Nope, I made sure it's the right one.

was it work hours when it said "no resources"? or did you set another recipe at the same time they couldn't make? Cause it will say "no resources" if there is one recipe they can't make even if they can make another

I did have another recipe, but I don't think that's it. All the materials for both recipes were available, and as soon as I transferred the meat to the kitchen manually it disappeared.

Hmm, they're on opposite sides of a road... not sure if that matters. Funny thing is that they do deposit the completed recipes in the food storage.

same here and ive had to put flour in their storage as in the case of chef they seem to be always needy.

A thought: When did you check if the meat or flour in the food storage is being accepted? The menu only updates during working hours. So, basically when the villager would actually check and discover that there is meat or there is none.

Sorry, but this is simply wrong.
Your food storage can be at the other end of the valley, standing upside down on a hill - that doesn't matter at all.
No consequences are to expect due to distance between working place and storages, neither resource nor food storage.

Huh, I was under the assumption that your buildings need to be in the same general area to be considered part of your colony, but you're saying you can build wherever you like and it just works? That's interesting...

Only fields need to be near barns and the homes of your fieldworkers. The rest you can spread out without problems.

At least for the storage buildings, yes.
you can place a storage at the end of the world and your NPCs can get stuff out of it.
Also, the storage capacity is shared over buildings of the same type.
So if you, say, build two resource storages, their total capacity will add up and you can put stuff into the one building and get it out while you are at any of the other buildings of the same type.

As in: put arrows in the chest of recource storage A and take them out at resource Storage B.

Same works with food storage buildings. :)

flour should be in the ressource storage not in the food storage. In the details you can see where every single item have to be.

When you look at an item it states either “Food Storage” or “Resource storage” and this indicates the storage building it will be placed in by your NPCs and hence the building they can automatically take it from to use in their work.
Flour has “Resource storage” on it, so the Barn Workers will put any flour they produce in Resource storage building (if it has space) and the Cooks will take it from the Resource Storage building.
The interface will state resources missing if outside of the NPCs working hours….as nl_toplitz stated.
It will also state resources missing whilst you in the management page as the game is “on hold” with no time passing whilst you are in that menu … so if you make some flour and put it in the resource storage building you need to close that menu and let the game run a few seconds before checking again.
