building planks to build your first house quest . need help

in order to make the planks you need some skill that has to be unlocked. question is. how do you unlock it? doing what exactly?

Make a stick and thatch house, there should be no need for planks on your first house.

your house can be made of just sticks. I would reccomend you make your villagers houses out of and that you upgrade your walls to stone when you get a wife.

The stone houses use less wood for heat than the sticks. you can change the materials of the house ghost by holding E on the walls before starting to build. Granted this also depends on where you set up as to its fesablility

To make Planks, you'll need a Lumberjack's Hut. This is unlocked by earning Tech-Points in the first Tech-Tab (don't know in English). Cut trees, mine ore, or collect clay for it.
When you unlocked Lumberjack 1, you can unlock Planks for money.

Its building tech and making planks aren´t to unlock. Just need the woodshed and a log.

And like other said before, just build it with straw and sticks. The better walls and roof with plank and stone are for better insulation. This lower the wood consumtion, but your own charakter haven´t need of firewood. Till you get a wife there are no benefit from insulation of your own house.
