Smithy - Copper Mining
Hey there;
I unlocked and built the smithy and wanted to try some copper production right now (mostly arrows). But how do I get copper permanently, if the mine is unlocked not until the very end?

Mine is unlocked with 5k tech points in building.
Until then I suggest to build a resource storage near a cave. You'll need to mine the copper yourself until you unlocked the mine though.

But:
As long as you have your blacksmiths produce copper tools only for your developing village and don't go on massive overproduction of tools, it should be enough to go for copper once or twice a year.
It's worth the effort in my opinion since copper tools last significantly longer that stone tools, also your blacksmiths gain a lot more tech points from making copper tools compared with stone tools.

Thx a lot for your precise answer. I forgot to mention, that I was asking for a way to automate the production, bute it's already all answered by your posting!^^^

Followed your instructions and emptied a whole cave. One remaining question: Do the ressources renew? And if, when do they?

All ore spots in the caves respawn after season change.

Thx. And now I got even two more questions (sorry!^^):
1. If the ore is crafted by a NPC-smith, will this give me technology points as well? Or do I have to do it by myself?
2. As recommended I built a storehouse at the mine entrance and realized that all storehouses are connected, no matter where ther location is. Is it in this case a good idea, to build a storehouse close to every village, so that I can have access to all my stuff and sell it to merchants, if I want?

1. Yes, but a bit slower than if you do it yourself.
2. Yep, it's a great idea. It's recommended in a lot of beginners guide as well. Especially handy for the heavy stuff.
I personally don't do it cause I prefer the entirety of my village in one place, and with my slow play style I make money easy enough before i spend it anyway, so I just take some lightweight bags to the villages to sell every now and then.

The ores are too heavy to carry (until you build a mine) and I used to mine copper and tin, piling them up in the mine (dumping the stones). Then, as the end of the season neared (day 3, closing in on midnight) I'd go mine some more and pick up all the ore, unable to move but waiting for the change of season to transport me back to my house where I'd dump all the ores and then take them to the resource storage in amounts I could carry.

Yeah, I've done this the first time as well. The only problem is, it's a one-way-track. With a storehouse close to the mine, you've also got the option to get access to your stored stuff (to build tool f.e.).

As a note: if you run with increased building limits, Resource Storage and Food storage all share the same inventory, but their capacities stack the more you build. What this *basically* means is that you can build a resource storage right next to all five mines and with lv2 resource storage, assuming one per mine and 1 in your main settlement, you have a combined 12k inventory space, and you can dump your mined resources on the spot without lugging everything back to your settlement manually.

True!

Go on the last day of the season, mine the ore, and drop it by the entrance to the mine. Then when the season is about to change or you decide to sleep through by the fire and change it, pick all of the ore up, then when you wake up in bed you can drop the ore and you have it at home. Learned this from watching Ohno Coho YouTube videos. It works well.

I prefer to build a storage next to the entrance, why i should do the extra steps. Drop the ores/stones, pick them up, and drop it again in carryable packages next season at home and bring it to the storage. The entrance > storage is much shorter way as my home > storage and you don´t need the extra steps, just go, instead to the entrance to drop it, the few extra meters to the once building storages and finished... The season port thing makes more work and no sense imho.
Only if you mine a single time in the game.

Because, I wouldn't waste a building. I am already at 130 and would like more. Maybe you have buildings to waste, that is your game. My advice is just that. Take it or leave it. And by the way, isn't constructing a building extra steps?
