How do you make fur clothes for the first winter?
I googled. What I've found:
- Clothes are made of linen using the sewing tech that requires 100 production tech points and several hundreds of coins for the schemes. Winter hits way sooner than that.
- There's a hunting quest that supposedly rewards with garnments. But they ask to hunt for 3 of hogs or foxes.

The hog spawns became so scarce after I accepted the mission that I only ended up with lots of fur, meat and leather as the cervidae were more abundant. Unfortunately when winter hit the hunting quest is marked as failed.

I don't think I can make enough flower pots to unlock the sewing tech, spring will probably begin before I get there.

Any advice?

Extend Season length. Give yourself more time to get used to game mechanics and to build essential buildings with skilled workers.

I've set the season length to 5 days, is it still too short?

I like a challenge but this feels more like an abstract time puzzle.

I buy the clothes. You only need one setup. It doesn´t decrease. So the reciep cost aren´t worth for your self.
Till you get the clothes, torches hold you warm, keep in mind, the cold debuff needs time to get away in relation to the time you aren´t warm, don´t wait to long to warm you.

The season length is okay. I play with 3 days, its depends on your own playstyle.

I have started the game with 20 days seasons to learn how things works. After two years, I have almost everything I will ever need.
Then I made a second gameplay with more challanging settings because now I know how and what I have to built to survive without stress and frustration.

5 days per season is more than enough to really avoid any rush or panic. Restarting once you have got the hang of the mechanics and have an ideal location decided upon, can be a good time to set it shorter. You will soon be running out of things to do and wanting the season to end early every day 3 or 4 - which you can do of course by selecting the sleep to end of season.
Also buying your first set of winter clothes is a sensible option.
