It's still at the exact same spot in Technology as it was before, only name changed.

it isn't i bought it from technology window i have workshop built and i have there just damn spoons torches and baskets ...so i think i need forge to craft it as someone mentioned imo its really bad decision ,otherwise we should be able to remove stumps with axe

I agree - it's insane to require a smithy before you can craft a wooden shovel. Not being able to remove tree stumps is a major inhibitor to my village growth!

well it should be pretty easy to buy one and by the way, there are so many iron shovels around in the world (some treasure spots, but as well quite often near clay spots etc..) never had to buy nor to craft one for personal use.. only later I need to craft when they are used by my workers. But Of course I agree, it doesn´t make sense that you can´t manual build the shovel like other wood/stone tools (like spear or knive etc..)

If you can't make it, go buy it. If you can't afford it, go check broken carts until you find it. If you can't find it, steal it.

I hope you're joking with that statement... Pretty certain a blacksmith handles any ore into metal bars, the "black" in the smith, comes from the use of charcoal as fuel... They existed since before the Bronze Age in Greece.

I don't get where all the fuzz is coming from... you unlock Smithy at 50 technology points, so not a really long run at all

Edit. I'm on 500 points now, started a new game last week and I still haven't crafted a single shovel, but am still using the bronze one I found at the beginning

Just for the record, I agree completely with the suggestion that a wooden shovel should be in the crafting menu from the beginning.

yep.

but then again, there must be like 10 shovels total, FOR FREE, all around the map. idk why people still complain they cant find them, and act like stumps are the worst thing in their whole lives.

If you're new to the game you have no idea where all the free stuff is. Even if you bothered to watch videos or read a guide to tell you how to play you might not bother with or see this information.

Personally I think a shovel is pretty basic and should be available in you personal build menu. It to me is sort of how the bucket used to be.

Im just guessing here, but its probably delayed on purpose so that when you initially clear cut huge swathes of land during the build up of your village you cant get rid of stumps and they have the chance to actually grow back. Call me crazy but it seems reasonable to me at least.

I remember in the early days, many did not know that you leave the stump on so that the tree grows back. Also seems illogical. There were many posts about this. Because many have removed everything completely and complained after. You are probably right.

No idea if this is true or not. However placing free shovels around the map sort of negates that reasoning.
