Stick 25% - freetime
firewood 15%
Plank 10%
Earlier today he had 3 axes to use he now has none and only 6 sticks picked up. This morning he had 20 logs now there's (end of day) with no new firewood and no new planks. It's annoying I'm spending my time creating stuff for him that he should he helping top create him self - btw only 4 sticks where added today.
"freetime" just means that you checked during a time during which he was not working, early in the morning or at night. Usually it tells you how many he should produce per hour.
Wow, your firewood is way low. It's almost certainly getting burned up as fast as they cut it and they're moving onto logs and sticks.
Mine is set:
Logs 40%
Sticks 5%
Firewood 50%
Planks 5%.
My firewood is a bit high, but I run it up during the year and drops in winter. It's fall now and I'm at 417 on the morning Day 3. I'll edit this to tell what it is on the morning of Day 1 Spring.
EDIT: Okay, I forgot to check my ending fall-season firewood. But that's not insurmountable. The firewood stock, the morning of Day 2 winter, was 347. The morning of Day 3 in winter it was 299. So I'm down 48 firewood in one day.
And that is for 14 houses (Simple House, Upgraded Walls).
It wasn't always this good. I used to have to cut firewood a couple of times a year and drop in 100-to-200 firewood over the course of the year. But as time has passed my lumberjacks went from skill-level 2 to skill-level 4. So I can probably drop it a bit now that my lumberjacks are so much better.
But thanks for the tip I'll turn firewood up.
This sentence caught my eye. How can one lumberjack use three axes a day and only bring 6 sticks to the storage? I don't think that one lvl 3 woodcutter can even use three axes a day.
I don't recall them ever changing but you just never know.
When I first started my innkeepers on potage I didn't think they were making any. Then a couple of in game days later I noticed used bowls in the resource storage. They were producing but not enough to get ahead of demand. A little tweak and potage started appearing in food storage.
My suggestion would be to tweak the firewood production and move it up to around 50% to start. Then go out and cut a bunch of logs (say 20) and turn that into firewood (gives 80). Then you can monitor the usage and adjust the amounts to give you a slight over production of firewood.
If you got to the management tab it will show you how much firewood/hr your village is using. Remember however that your lumberjack only produces for 10hrs/day and your villagers use wood from 7am until you sleep. So if you always go to sleep at 7pm then your lumberjack has to produce at least 12hrs worth of firewood in the 10hr work day.
