Mining
My village is far from the mines and I was wondering what I can do about this? If I start a mine they will be far away from my village and it will take them forever to bring materials and to get to their houses, so if there is some work around plz tell me
Thx

It does not mater how far it is they produce the moment they start walking to the mine.

Distance to mines does not matter. I have all 5 mines built in the map. The only thing that matter is when I have to travel to each mine and mine the ores myself. I allocate 5 days to manually mine all 5 of them. Since I have a 12-day season, this is not an issue.

when you build your mine, you can put a pic in the chest if you so desire. where you need to keep pics avail is in your resource storage. that is where they draw their supplies.

They don't work that way for me.

They are working now sorry about my post stating otherwise.

Just make sure you keep pick axes in the chest at the mine.
Its enough to keep pickaxes in the storage, no need to put it in the mine building.

All workers start producing at 8 am, no matter where they, the work building or the ressources (trees, animals...) are. They put all stuff in the ressource/food storage and take all they need from there.
Only fieldworkers have to do their job in physical way.

The only job I think matters as to distance traveled is farmers. Farmers actually have to plow and plant the fields physically. All other jobs start working at the beginning of each day and end work as the sun goes down.

If you're like me though and you don't want to see your miners walking miles to the mine only to turn around as soon as they get there then build a small mining village at the mouth of the mine. Then you can have your main village and your mining village, the location of your storage buildings won't affect anything. Just be sure to always put those female miners back in the mine after motherhood.

No production worker will take the tool out of the resource storage and if none in the chest of the work will stop working.

So for me is it a bug that my NPC's refuse to work if no tools are in the work shop chest?
If you put the tools in the ressource storage your villager should find it there, if really not can you upload your savegame for bug tracking?

I will go and put all axes in the resorce storage and test it again but when I first started right after 1.0.0.7 came out they would not work until I put the axes in the chest at there work site.

Well frick, I had 25 tools for each workshop I had at the time with stone tools in my resource storage building and after getting NPC's recruited to my village it was saying I had no tools for the workers after assigning them to work.
They started working after I put the tools in the workshop chest and this is why I said it was not working but now with Iron tools they are taken them out of the resource storage building.

you can build a resource storage building at a couple of the mines, it helps with weight if your mining the ore yourself and if the workers need tools the building is close enough they can keep working, but it does count towards your building limit.
