If you don't like failing side quest then memorize the dialog that quest givers say prior to accepting the quest. Although this may help fail less quests has time goes on the tier of items that will be requested will increase so you will need to keep pace with the quest givers or you may have to straight up buy the things they ask for instead of crafting them.
Or quicksave before accepting a quest and reload if it's something you can't provide yet. There have been multiple suggestions to let the player know what the quest requirements are before acceptance, so maybe that will happen someday.
for farm animals.....
Dev's, if you're reading this, and this isn't the strongest indicator to you that players are desperate for some purpose in this game; god help us all...
Nope, that's the king's challenges (quests you get from the herald).
The story quests don't affect taxes at all.
About quests, All the side quests from other villages not only give you reputation and some coin or item, they also add to your points into your techs and skills. (you have to open your journal (J key) to see what amount of point you will get into a tech) Ex: The guy that asks you to cut down 20 trees will add points to your farming; the guy who asks for a hammer gives you points into building tech, run to one village for another village to buy boots or check out who makes best clothes, add to diplomacy...etc, etc.
The chapter quest have no time limit but should be important as it opens your ability to make more buildings.
The story-line quests now do reward you with reputation and adds to the lore of the game.
I'm sorry. I didn't realize that the words "purpose" and "dangers" have the exact same meaning to you. Luckily for you though, I actually know the definitions between the two, which means that I'm actually not "desperately in need of dangers", though a little bit of "purpose" in the game would be nice.
But hey, if you so desperately need to crap on people in forums over something they wrote, why don't you go read a Dictionary, or I don't know, a Thesaurus? That way, when you decide to gaslight someone in a forum, you'll actually know what the hell for.
I agree. I bought this before bandits were added, and they were about to come out. There was a sale right before they did. I wrongly assumed they would attack your village periodically. Sad there's not any point in defenses.
