can farmers seed orchard fields ??
if not why ?

They can't seed them, just harvest the fruit. Why? I don't know.

never tried. always planted myself. no fertilizer required. just hoe the initial planting area as usual when field created, which could be done by farmers. They do harvest.

Maybe they don't seed them because you only plant them once, not regularly like the other seeds/fields.

No, you can only plant fruit trees and hops in the orchards and you can not apply fertilizer to the orchard.
If you pay attention to the fields the farmers not only have to do the initial grubbing but they need to apply the fertilizer, grub a second time then plant the seeds.

I have noticed that farmers in the other villages seem to work in the fields as the crops are growing like they are removing weeds but I have not seen Racimir's farmers doing that activity in the his fields.

i know they can harvest for you but they can not plant ..
planting seeds was my intent for my villagers ...i was lazy in planting 22 fields .. ...
o well that's why they pay me the big bucks .......

Probably due to the programing of the NPCs, the orchards aren't like the fields like most said:
Fields- grub, fertilize, grub, seed
orchards- grub, plant
the npcs do harvest it, but the planting i believe its just the programing that is not done yet, i believe they probably will ad it later on.
They are probably adding other things and fixing others so that is most likely something they have not tried to "fix".

Fields- grub, fertilize, grub, seed
orchards- grub, plant
the npcs do harvest it, but the planting i believe its just the programing that is not done yet, i believe they probably will ad it later on.
They are probably adding other things and fixing others so that is most likely something they have not tried to "fix".

Have you tried leaving Seedlings in the Resource Storage with seeds. Then create a Orchard and in Management, lay it out with Tree Types you want there?

Since you cannot select specific thing that will be in the orchard (like it works for free - you select carrot, people will plant it), no, you have to do it on your own.
Why? Well, DEVs propably expected people will plant like few dozens of them so why automate it? :D
I have 1000 fruit trees so far and yea, i would love if NPCs planted them for me :D

Peasants can not plant in orchard fields only MC/PC can.
Peasants will grub and pick but can not plant in orchard fields.

There is no option in manage mode to select what plants for orchards.
