How to build a well
My understanding is that wells were added to the game and take just 50 farming technology. I can't find where to buy the technology or where in the build-wheel it would be.

Hey you!
You don't have to buy the technology. It unlocks as soon as you have enough tech points, just like any other building.

Afterwards you can find the well in your Q-menu, can place and build it. Here it will be under "Extraction".

Edit: Yensid was quicker :)

I have the two woodsheds, the excavation shed and the mine under extraction. No well.

Perhaps a stupid question, but are you playing the right version of the game? You can see the version number in the lower left corner when you are in the main menu. What does it say?

Not a stupid question. See I have a habit of playing the beta-branch of games, like Bannerlord and this game for example, to see where things are going and if things get silly (or something great is done) give my feedback.

The Beta Branch appears to be abandoned during my game-play hiatus. So I took myself off the beta branch, updated the game and found there is lot more to the game than I was seeing on the beta branch.

And I mean a lot more. So now I know why I was playing a stagnant game despite all the updates. And while I'll start over to make sure I don't have incompatibility crashes, I was kind of planning on it anyway.

So, no, it wasn't a stupid question though it was the answers I got before your question that actually told me something was wrong on/with the beta-branch and I should revert to main branch.

It is a little confusing. We have three public branches right now. The old beta branch allows players to continue playing on the pre-1.0 version with their old saves. The main branch is, of course, the new version. But there also is a new beta branch, called "public staging". I'll throw you the link on how to join in a second. ;)

Edit: Here you go. The beginning of the announcement tells you how to join. Right now the regular version and public staging are the same version, though. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1129580/eventcomments/2952663522506772143/
