Thankyou :) it was really difficult to get the planks into position at first but it got easier as I went along. still isn't perfect but it's in my slum area so the imperfect look is perfect. Easily my favorite part to walk thru right now.

That's true. Once you get a feeling for the right moment it gets easier, but getting there still is a question of a lot of trial and error. It is worth it, though.

I know what you mean about the favourite part. I just made a bonfire and each time I walk past it I stop and pat myself on the shoulder, telling myself how nice it turned out and how it was worth the many failed attempts and the grumbling.

Let's see a picture.

I feel you on the grumbling. I recently learned that I could place single square poppy fields in gaps between my houses and I could put them really close to trees if I cut them first and left the stump. Only thing is a few seasons later I learned the trees would despawn and not grow back :(. Lesson learned I guess.

Trees should respawn after two years as long as you leave the stump.

that is a really cool bonfire - NICE!

I really hope that furniture, walls, fences, tables etc. eventually buff villager moods when passing through these areas... for the creativity and effort it makes sense to give a reward.

Going to try out those plank pathways as I have some nasty looking non-flat areas

Cool bonfire, are those poppies in the middle of the double stone wall?

I thought trees would respawn as long as I left the stump but they didn't with the building or field too close. Test it out, cut a tree and then place a field right up next to the stump as close as you can get. It wasn't just the one tree that it happened with so I can confirm it happens both with buildings and fields that are placed too close to a stump, closer than it would allow before cutting the tree.

For now on I'm going to be sure to let the tree grow back before placing anything near it and I'm not going to cut anything within or near my town anymore so that I won't have to wait for them to grow back to expand. I value my trees in my forest village.

Just in case you can't see, use spears to provide the supports. Might take a few throws to get the spear just right but using logs, stones or other planks you risk your supports moving and losing progress.

Thistle, chicory and St. John's Worth. Don't ask. I may have gone mildly insane while placing them - or before, when I suddenly thought that it would be a good idea. xD

Do you have a save with the stumps and trees not regrowing? I can do some magic and check if they do after more time. If not, I'll add it to the bug list.

There's so much you can do with planks. Not just pathways, but also little sheds, bridges, shelves and carts. Planks are your friend. :D And stone walls, stone walls are friends as well.

I don't have any old saves but my current save I am watching a tree that is likely to have the same problem. I can't find where this game saves to though

Oh damn that was painfully hard... I didn't see the spear post until just now. Ok, trying again :)

Do they survive intact all year round or just in their defined season?

So far they are looking good, just like any other dropped non-food item. What I do worry about just slightly is the physics blowing up on me one day, but they seem to be resting in their place rather calmly so far, no twitching, no wanting to escape and bounce around ...
