Medieval Dynasty
xp, technology points, npc's and village overview
How exactly are xp, technology points and npc workers related?
I somehow figured out that npc villagers that do certain tasks for you, also create technology points in that field to unlock new buildings.
Do npc's also give you a little bit of exp when they do the work they are assigned to?

For example:
I have 4 people working in my barn.
each one of them gives me farming technology when they work, to unlock new farming buildings like a horse stable, correct?
but leveling up my own farming skill to unlock the whistle or the bonus exp only works when i myself do the field work?
Is that how it works?

Also, little sidenote.
lately, i got my first village with more then 12 people in it.
But now i have problems keeping the village selfsustainable.

my woodcutter is not cutting enough wood (i adjusted the output, but i have no idea how much logs my village needs per day to not go into the reds.)
my 2 hunters are constantly demanding new knifes, which is getting kinda annoying. im nowhere near the mining building (i have the smithy build though. but the next mine is across the map and i can only carry so much ore each time i go to the cave)

basically:
is there a convenient window/list that i havent found yet that shows exactly how much of each item is used and how much i'm currently producing by my village every day?
i found the list for each specific production builing, but not everything combined.

and

how the heck can i get better knifes/tools for my workers without spending 1-2 entire days every season walking across the map?

For your hunters go into the management tab for the Hunting Lodge. In the right hand half of the pop up window for the lodge you will see a hammer type icon at the top second from left. Click on that.

Now you can see how much time you have allocated for each task you have your hunters doing and how much they will produce per day. Select the meat task and in the bottom of the window it will tell you they need a knife and how much HP it will cost the knife per gathered meat. I can't recall the exact figures but let's say it's 2HP per meat and they're gathering 50 meat/day. That means the knife will lose 100hp/day. If they are using stone knives I think they only have 100hp (could be wrong) so you can see now that they will use a knife/day. Keep in mind collecting leather and fur also costs the knife hp.

For your ore/stone issue build a storage building at or very close to the mine. Storage buildings of the same type share their inventory so if you have one in your village and one at the mine you can put ore/stone in at the mine and take it out at your village. If the area is small and you can't fit a Resource Storage try a Food Storage it is smaller.

If your smith has the copper knife recipe having him/her produce 2/day should be more than enough to keep the hunters in knives for a population of 12. If necessary (because of low skill level) have them produce mostly knives and you make the bars. Same would apply for bronze etc but by the time you progress your smith should be able to do both.

Firewood: 1 log = 4 firewood, 4 firewood = 20 wood. So 1 log = 20 wood. Go into the management tab and see how much wood your villagers need/day. Divide that number by 20 and that will equal the number logs you need to produce and turn into firewood each day. I always produce a little more than needed just to be safe and also to take into account variations due to the seasons.

A couple of other tips. Go into the management tab and select the last icon at the top of the page. This shows what your villagers will eat, burn etc. Only let them burn firewood - so deselect logs, planks and sticks. You can also stop them consuming all manner of other items in this tab.

I'm not sure what you're cooking for the villagers to eat but try and cook them something other than roast meat or fish. Potage is very good early on as it satisfies hunger and some thirst and you can get 2 crops of cabbages/year.

Hope this helps you.
Your villager collect the same amount of tech points like you for the same work. But the skill expierience is their own. You have to farm your own skill xp.
thx a bunch for all that info!
i didnt know that 20 wood = 1 log. this makes things easier.
i will try building a storage near the mine and see how it goes.

That is only if you are cutting the logs into firewood. If you are not doing so then it is a much smaller wood value. Always make sure that you have sufficient firewood for you villagers, as you don't want them dipping into sticks and logs.
