Here is my favourite mine. Don't know if it is best but loads of copper. I made copper arrow-heads now, damage = 35 compared to the old stone-heads 25. And..no bears!

There are 5 mines on the map. All have copper, tin and salt. With a mining building the areas for iron is open. Here you find the offical map:
https://bildnerverlag.de/medieval-dynasty
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1766022/Medieval_Dynasty__Map_Pack/

The northern mine is the save one, without any wild life in close range. The south-east of hornica has a few bears near by, but you can easy go around. The other 3 are more dangerous.
For mining yourself i recommend to build a storage close to the entrance. the middle and middle south hasn´t big areas for an ressource storage, but for a food storage ;D

Ahh, so that is why I did not find any iron?

yes, every mine has iron behind a wall. A mine building break through the wall and get access to the cave behind.

Ok, I see! A lot of new stuff now in the full version 1.0 :)
Iron seems far away for me though as a single man with a smithy. I have 116/5000 Tech points for iron smithing. I have no idea on how to speed up that advance? Do you know which way to go to increase those iron smithing tech points?

I start a new game "Hermit style" with 200% technology gain and it's way to much. I'll restart with 130%, that's sound more adequate for the lack of workers.

Smith is crafting tech, everything you or your village do in the smith, kitchen/tavern, workbench or sewing get crafting tech. Higher/better production gets more tech. Like roasted meat is 0,05 tech per meat and potage 0,3. The normal linen shirt give a ?unbalanced? amount of tech and skill points per work and looks like one of the best way for fast level your craftman workers and tech.

The mine is building tech, for that you just have to build. Fences, lamplights, woodcutting and mining count too.

And make the random quests. They offer sometimes (46-250) tech points as reward.

Ok, so if I continue to craft stone knives for example, it will make my Tech points go up even for smithing? Since I will do this Dynasty alone with a wife and kid and those stone knives really do a good payment when selling.

There is a bear, but you don't see him that often.
This one spawned above and to the left of the mine when looking at the mine entrance (or on the map) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2625872239
in EA he could be found by the 3-way path junction to the right of the mine during the night, but that may no longer be a spawning point.
It is my favourite mine also and I build a resources warehouse there for mining and for sales to the Branica/Baranica vendors.

Really?? I have been there so many times in my previous plays but I have been lucky and never seen him then. I used to go there the night before Season-change and mine all day and night, load up it all before midnight and end up next morning in my cabin with tons of iron and stones.. I guess a medieval Fed-Ex? And it still seems to work in v.1.0.0.7 lol

Yes - but he doesn't wander around near the entrance. you have climb up into the hills behind if you need to hunt him.
