Unripe Berry in Spring.
Berry (Ripe) in Summer.

yes but used to pick unripe berries in autumn.. maybe that was a bug.

Maybe, in this case it is wise to verify the game file.

If it isn't just your memory playing a trick on you, yes, that would have been are bug. You cannot pick berries in autumn in MD. (I know other games where autumn is berry season.)

I have a problem (or bug?). My Herbalist's Hut settings for berry says "not the right season" in every season, even in summer. that's extreme bad since I use mass berries to make fertilizer (no pigs yet).

Can you share a screenshot of that? One that shows the error message and one that includes the current season?
You should look at cabbage, harvested twice a year, gives 4 rots each.

Man this thread is old!

unless they opt to add different TYPES of berries.... berries are only harvested in summer in the game..

I agree this in unrealistic..

In a moderate, european, climate (and the game DOES play in europe, since there are wisent, all characters are white, and building styles are european too)

these are the harvest times for wild berries :

european blueberry : autumn
blackcurrant : autumn
cranberry/lingonberry : autumn
buckthorn : autumn
blackthorn : autumn
rosehip : autumn

wild strawberry : summer
elderberry : summer

the berries ingame, grow in bushes in forested area's usually around a tree (halveshade)
-thats common blueberry behavior.
but the berries ingame are NOT blueberries...
-american blueberries were not imported.
and european blueberry bushes are very small, like the herbs we pick in size.
their fruits are smaller too, but much more tasty (just like european cranberry aka lingonberry is also only found in wild, smaller and more tasty)

but there is ONE berry that while very very rare in my country the netherlands, is a bit more common in germany, and poland... and while today mostly only found cultavated.. does originate in the wild...
: Ribes nigrum, the black ribes, tastes like cassis... is much larger than the other ribes types (including the small black ribes, thats just one of the 3 colours of ribes ribes, which usually is red.. but does also occur in black and white) the black ribes ribes does not taste like casis and is smaller..)
->
ribes nigrum, does grow in medium size bushes like those ingame, does have large harvest on each bush, and the berry's do look blueish black.. (though a bit more black than the berries we see ingame)
->
and these you DO harvest in summer.

exta evidence, it was originally wild, but started to get cultivated in the middle ages, so the fact we see each village in the game has a group of them nearby.. not neatly but still a bit wild.. ... fits that also..

so the berries we have ingame must be Ribes nigrum

that the makers of the game have coloured them to blue, can be cause two third of all the farmers who grew Ribes Nigrum have today switched to american blueberries.
-> american blueberries have become populair in hipster breakfasts.. and can be sold fresh for 10-20 euro a kilo.
-> where the classicly grown Ribes Nigrum, is mostly used to brew berry wine, berry liquir, and a cassis flavored soda.
-but thats wrong.. the american blueberry is not native to european forests.

You remind me of Sheldon from the Big Bang theory. Always taking over a conversation to add information no one asked for.

Someone doesn't know the difference between FANTASY GAME and REAL LIFE. Did he mention that it takes more than 20 hits with a hammer to build a house, and normally takes more than a few minutes. That mines do NOT suddenly regain their ores every season. That you get more than 2-4 logs from a whole tree.

IT's a GAME get over it.... And IMHO a brilliant one where the DEVS have done a fantastic job, and continue to

I found the thesis on "what type of berries is depicted in this game" an amusing enterprise, not unlike the shenanigens of the channel "game theory"

and some realism would be nice
**that the berries ingame are made either smaller bushes, or black

and a revamp of how trees work :
-1 the amount of logs in a tree would vary with it's thickness/size
-2 trees would have various ages the older the more logs it would give
-3 trees would reproduce in 2 ways, they would produce seeds (you could grab thouse to plant new trees elsewhere) and they produce sapplings all around them.
-4 a seed that does recieve enough light, would turn in a small sapling
-5 sapplings would grow slowly, and when 20 years old.. would be a first tier tree.
-6 trees would grow based on amount of light recieved (if other trees put it in shade it grows slower) and age (if younger it grows more per year than later on)
-7 villagers employed as lumberjack would need to cut down actual real trees, and if none are there than they stand idle.
-8 to combat the eventual lumber shortage this will cause you should burn sticks instead
-9 sticks won't generate automaticly but every time a rain hit, every healthy tree will have a couple new sticks underneath it.. it will still grow fine..

as for mines :
-1 mining in pre-industrial ages went at a lot slower rate.. the mine would not easely be exhausted
-2 I do agree it would be more realistic if a mine would open a new corridor once the current one is mined clean... and that the yield per node would go vastly up.

as for construction :
I would not mind spending a couple days or seasons building 1 building.. I mean a church could take 300 year to finish... a castle 20-150 years dependant on size and urgency.. but on the other hand a wood cabin, can be made by 1 man in a single summer.. and a small tier 3 house could be done in two weeks, if the entire village helps and the materials were already present.
-> making constructions take a lot longer ingame.. and have villagers employed to speed it along.. would be fine to me.
