Can I become king?

I think that I already played half through the game, but my heir is still a child. So whats the point of the dynasty? Will I play as my son after I died in old age? Can I become a Castellan, knight, earl, duke, prince or king?

Nope and not sure if that is on the table as this is the normal persons story not a Knight's Tale ;-)

Well, thats bitter, because I wanted to rise in social rank in medieval times. Please include at least a minor carrer up to knight ranks.

And what about my other question?
Will I play as my son later and then as my grandchild and so forth?

Yes you continue as your son. Although in my experience that is a mute point since it takes so long before you reach that point. To me the is not enough content. You will have everything built in a self sufficient village long before you die of old age. I've just started over at that point
