Starting a village.

Hi, I seem to be stuck at a building limit of 4 houses.
I had build a small house for myself, a workshop, a sewing workshop, and a storage house. Can't seem to get people to stay with me as I cannot build a food storage. Need some help. How do I increase my building limit pass the limit of 4?

2 things
1. Complete the Main Quest Line - Each chapter completed increases your building limit.
2. You don't need a Food Storage to feed people. You can place food directly in the storage chest of the house you have people assigned to. Same with Firewood. The storage buildings are useful when you have many houses to keep stocked.

Ye, you need houses to attract people to your village. You need to progress with the main quest to get more buildings. Been a while since I've done the main story quest so can't remember exactly how it goes.

Do you have the survivalist quest ? I think that one will get you another 4 buildings.

You will need to knock 1 of the buildings down to make room for a second house for them to live in.

With main quest line they mean the chapters in which the first one is to build your own house.
Follow those and a higher building limit is unlocked.

You could also grab yourself a wife. She will live with you in your house.

While playing my second game I got stuck on 8 buildings for the longest time and I was really concerned that I couldn't advance. I finally realized I had gotten side-tracked with Uniegost's quests and side quests and I had completely forgotten to do my chapter goals. All I had to do was kill two foxes and I moved up to the next level. I'm not sure but I don't think it always displays your chapter goals on the right hand screen.

For some reason, the story quests are giving a higher priority by the game. I always keep an eye on journal, also because it wouldn't be the first time I forgot to hand in a sidequest

It does not. You need to check the journal.

The quest needs to be active for them to display on the HUD.

If I'm remembering correctly to go past 4 buildings you need to build a barn and make a field. If indeed this is your next chapter then you will need to destroy one of your buildings.

I know which one I would destroy but I've seen this discussion before and naturally everyone has an opinion so you should decide for yourself.
