Longbow but no quiver?
I recently got a longbow in the bear-quest with Alwin. It works fine with stone arrows. Earlier, I tried to buy a long bow from Sambon but the note in red said that a longbow needs to have arrows carried in a quiver which I neither can buy nor make myself! I don't have a quiver now, but the longbow works..
There is no logic in this..
Besides, if I practice shooting on a tree, the arrow passes through and can't be found.
Another no logic here..
I try to play realistic, have build a log house and a hunting lodge. Also got married with a woman from Denica. I go hunting and she is gathering until the child is born. This is the way they lived in the old days. They did not start building a village the first winter!
So, that's why I am so concerned about this longbow thing. I can't see myself waiting for 10 years until I can make a quiver and buy a longbow which will be necessary since the bow deterioration is so fast and it can't be repaired. My new longbow dropped to 95% just after a few practice shots!
"Somezing wrong im kartong" in my opinion and sadly makes my first love for this game fade away..

You already have a quiver; it is one of your permanent slots. Just select a stack of arrows in your inventory and press F to equip, similar to typing a number to assign to a tool slot. However, not having arrows should not prevent you from buying a bow.

I expect the arrow fired into a tree disintegrated. They do, after a number of firings, just like everything else (apart from clothing) decays with use and finally disintegrates. As far as I am aware, there is nothing special about firing arrows into trees that makes them disintegrate quicker.

Ahh, sorry, I did not realize that this was the case with quivers. But then, they should take away that note about the need for quivers. I could buy the longbow first time but hesitated due to that note about quivers.

Training against trees will not be my main activity either, so I'll buy that explanation too.

As I understand it now, I can happily live my hunters life for many years, making stuff from leather and fur to sell besides stone knifes, arrows etc. slowly developing my skills. It's what I like about this game.. sort of "meditative" feeling without stress.

Thank's for reply. My love for this game suddenly jumped upwards again!

I just had an arrow miss a fox and I found it in a tree without disintegration :D

they have a chance to disintegrate, think for stone arrows it's 1 in 6 will break 1 in 9 for iron arrows, but the numbers are in the description iirc
Ok, but that is not so bad after all, guess it seems quite realistic

I think the longbow might be bugged at the moment, so you can use it as a machine-gun.

By the way - how do I report a bug? Is there a software to collect the info about the system, state of game and point on the map where it happens?

Does anyone else have this? Draw full extent, release, hit the wisent, bear or boar (require more than one arrow to put those down). Do nothing else, just continue holding RMB, but they keep receiving hits, one after another, until they die.

Restarted the PC and the game, checked the files integrity. Everything checks out good, yet going after a bear, same thing happens. Moreover, the bear animation gets stuck in a loop where it stands up and tries to reach my character with its paws. Eventually dies smitten by gods with invisible arrows for that transgression. Which seems logical to me, but I still think it is a bug.

---------------
Forgot to mention I play with 120% HP and 250% damage from animals, but I don't think this is relevant, it hasn't happened before, same settings. And I always draw to max and hold 1-2 sec. before releasing the first arrow.

Report the bug in the Bug Reports sub forum or on Discord. That's a new one I haven't seen before.

Thank you, I'll try to just describe it then, in that sub-forum.

you can make a target to practice archery, after you shoot the arrow at it. it will tell you the distance so you can put a path every 50 m to practice at.

Are you using iron arrows? if so the additional hits you're seeing are the bleed affect from the arrow, stone arrows don't do this so may just be first time your seeing it

I got 20 iron arrows from a quest but they are gone now. Need more Tech to craft them but for sure they made a difference! I remember even I got a one-shot-one-kill on a wildboar with those. Hoping I can craft them soon

Yes, that's the bleed effect. It usually does not stop them completely, though. I've not seen it happen in such quick succession before.
