No eggs?
I have 2 chickens which have become hens now plus a rooster. They are all 1 year old now and have got one little chicken but no eggs so far.
I know my own hens IRL I bought 18 weeks old and that's when they were starting to lay eggs. Maybe I am too impatient?

I have tried with a worker as "Animal breeder" but thought it would be a waste of time for him just to spend all days caring for 3 hens. The trough is full of animal food, so nothing is missing. Do they lay eggs later?

Have you checked the slider on the 2nd page of the building?

Also they do need a worker, since we can't collect eggs ourself

You cannot collect eggs yourself at the moment. So, the NPC is actually needed. And, like Jen says, turning on the production. It works in the same place you do it for the tavern.

Ok, I get it. Too bad I need that worker for gathering berries to rot into fertilizer, but I guess I will have to reqruit another one, build a new house etc.. Just for a few eggs! :D

The things we do for eggs. But seeing what the new henhouse looks like, I wouldn't be surprised if we can collect them ourselves in the future.

This is even more true since we got new cooking recipes.
My Racimir would be willing to do whatever it takes to get scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs with mushrooms for breakfast. ;)

Since I started playing again a week ago, I have yet to have anything rot. Berries, meat, nadda.... It just poofs out of inventory when it spoils.

Things that rot in chests get transferred to the food storage automatically now.

I suppose that is why I always have so much rot in food storage at the beginning of each season. I had been deliberately removing anything I wanted to rot from food storage and placing it elsewhere, and at the same time been trying to use or sell all the surplus food I had, so I couldn't work out where all that rot came from.

Perhaps I ought to place a basket for decaying food, as someone else suggested.

I reworded that, in case there was confusion about what I said. I am at year 4, Hamlet with a population of 17. Have never seen spoiled food, period.

I will start another thread about this later, when I need to craft a bunch of stuff. I never even thought about it, until reading this thread.

A lovely breakfast, I agree!
I have 6 hens IRL and normally get 5-6 eggs every morning and make creamy scrambled eggs on toast with a hint of parmesano and black pepper :D

You reminded me of when I was very young our parents would sometime make for dinner scrambled eggs, mushrooms ans spinach, as a child I hated this, my sisters loved it. To this day I still don't like it. :P

Too bad! It is lovely :D
