What is the most effective way to level up the farming tech
Just wondering if there is a definitive effective way to do this, or if it literally boils down to just preparing and the harvesting a feild?
Im mainly wondering if theres more xp to be gained from any particular crop, or if you get a larger sum of xp when animals breed.

Pretty much all count towards Farming technology, even what the npc's do in that field

Historically I create and destroy fields. Then do it again. And again. I haven't done that in this play-through yet so I can't assure you that it still works. Hell, I can't even get an heir despite 350 hours of total-playing in this game and having done such multiple times in the past so I'm not sure what's going on with this current iteration.

ok, so when my npcs shovel pig waste and collect eggs does that count, and does the number of animals count as well?

yes, but the number of your animals not direct. More animals ~> more production, every finished workstep provides tech point.

ok, so more product just equals more tech points.

I see it as more actions equals more tech points. If you only have two pigs and your worker spends most of his time staring at them, I'm not sure that generates more tech points. With more pigs he has to work more, so I would think that would mean more tech points.

I think. Someone who actually knows could pipe up.

I think you have to hoe, sow, reap and fertilize, lots of field squares. That seems to do it quickly.

The way I do it, after I get villagers (before that, you do everything, so there's no confusion on how to max), is I do all the harvesting, so I can use my "bonus crops" buff and then let the workers do the rest.

Occasionally, I'll lay out some more fields, if I'm close to a "trigger" level in farming tech.

This.
So basically the more skilled your NPCs are in farming and the more products they produce, the more tech points they gain for you.
Example: a low skilled farmer who gets say 80 manure/day from 2 pigs gains less tech points than a more skilled farmers who gets 160 manure/day from the same 2 pigs.
3 pigs, same farmer, same workload --> more manure --> more tech points.
Same counts for eggs, feathers, milk from cows and milk from goats, wool, pretty much everything.
Also workers in the barn or on the fields gain tech points while they work at the fields or produce animal food or whatever they possibly could produce in the barn.

Important note: the NPCs get the same amount of tech points for each workstep as you would gain with your Racimir when you do the same work yourself and this counts for all professions in your village.

So a blacksmith who produces 20 bronze knifes gains the same amount of tech points for that work as you would get if you produce the same amount of bronze knifes yourself.

This is an important thing to understand because of course you can work much faster than your NPCs. But you can only do one job at a time whilst your NPCs can work in all buildings on all jobs at the same time.

Everyone should be aware of that, before someone complains about NPCs being worthless - they're not.
