Ergo: Less replacement and production of tools needed, by giving your farmers a scythe.
For bronze tools the sickle and the scythe both have 150 endurance per bronze bar, so in that regard it doesn't make a difference. I didn't check whether the production time is different or the same.
Anyway, since the villagers don't seem to be faster with a scythe, i'm currently using copper to make farmer tools (my bronze is used to make pickaxes, axes and knives), there is no copper scythe and my blacksmith does have the spare time, i'll stick to sickles for now. Thanks.
Btw: I found an iron scythe somewhere. When i went harvesting until it broke and then switched to a bronze sickle, it felt like the scythe was using much less stamina per swing. I didn't do any testing though, might have been my imagination.
For NPCs? No difference. For players? Scythes are much better (you harvest WAY faster with scythe)
