Damn, why didn't i think of that? I put a bunch of the standing torches into the mine, but unfortunately the light radius is really small and "a bunch" isn't nearly enough.
Some of the medicinal plant potions/medicines are very useful and have a purpose. Others, like ‘night vision,’ are just Harry Potter silly.
Silly superpowers could have been left out of the game IMO. As the game is at the moment, I ignore them.
Do you mean stone campfires? Do they give more light than the torches? They would also have the advantage of not requiring linen thread... Wood is easy to come by and stones are more than abundant in the mine itself.
I haven't yet to use a night vision potion so I don't really know how well it works. However, if you are concerned about the "magic" aspect of it being silly, then think of it this way. The herbalist has concocted a combination of herbs that force your iris to open and allow in more light.
