When it comes to asigning a villager to fish for your village, it requires a fishing spear that costs a linen thread to make and a smithy so a lot more expensive to make than the knives for hunters.
And for both meat and fish, you have traps as well and a perk to be able to place a whole lot more of each trap to get quite a bit each day.
Aye, that's where the extra effort comes in. But fish traps lock way underpowered to me. I haven't actually tried them yet but at 9+ linen thread for each one and only 3 uses... That sound terrible!
But if you can get the linen thread the fishing spears seem good and reusable about 20 times, so 20 fish/pole for 1 stick, log and linen thread. I feel like that's a good deal unless fishing nets catch heck tons of fish every time.
