Difference between bows?
is durability the only difference between the bows?
I bought a long bow and it seems to be the same as the normal bow just last longer.

the differences are durability and (it seems to me) strength. With a recurve bow (and iron arrows) you can one-shot a deer, which is impossible with a normal bow.

A longbow is a lot more powerful than a normal bow, and one time when I equipped a normal bow by mistake, I wondered why it was so poor. I've never actually used a recurve bow, but I'll probably swap when my current longbow breaks.

Iron arrows are a distinct improvement over stone arrows.

oh i havent tried iron arrows yet.
I just got to how 1 in my 2nd spring. so I just paid my 1st taxes.
I am still struggling to earn money to unlock craftings, and the stuff i want are gatted behind tech points, so i grinded money to buy things like a pick axe, bow, and backpack right away.

Also, still hard to make money to buy seeds and fertilizer, either im doing something poorly, or its just cause im only 1 year in the game, with 1 towns person.

I am at max buildings but still havent built a 3rd house for a 2nd person cause I made all the crafting buildings for myself, and need 1 more building allowance to complete the build hunters shack quest.

Go for a recurve bow & iron arrows, plus steady hand skill

I think I only used wooden spears in the first year. A bow is far better, of course.

Seeds and fertiliser are expensive. Start small, and keep grains and seeds from your harvest for the next season. Collect as many berries and mushrooms as you can and leave them to rot. Don't put them in food storage; I've read that they rot quickest if dropped on the ground, but I found keeping them in my own inventory at the change of seasons worked fairly well. Once you get pigs you'll have no shortage of manure for fertiliser, but rot is good in the first few years.
The recurve bow with iron tip arrows is awesome due to it’s fast reload speed and power. A very good ”close combat” bow when attacked by multiple wolves/boars/wisents :)

Recurve bow does 55 damage
Crossbow does 70 damage
Bow does 35 damage
Longbow does 55 damage

The longbow is more powerful, so the flatness is better - can take reliably smaller targets from a longer distance. You can set up an archery range and practice with both of them, discover the big difference in drop starting at about 25m.

Yes, left on the ground, they rot the first season change. Also, unless they are really close to my village and won't respawn, I can collect berries twice a year - spring (unripe) and summer (ripe).

I have noticed the patches that i pluck all the unripe are not there as ripe, I can only seem to get ripe ones if i leave the unripe alone heh.

That is correct, if you collect Unrip Berry, you won't be able to collect Berry from the same patch.

Since I do that all the time (except the bushes inside or right next to my village), I think either/both these might explain why you cannot:
- you try to collect too close to the village
- the berries respawn interval is a function of number of days and season, not only season; I play 9 days/season and I noticed that not all the berries grow back at the beginning of the summer, but different days. I am year 5 (v.407) and it's been like this since year 1.

-----------------
Or... my game has a midlife crisis. Because it also doesn't put much heart into counting. When transferring items from/to inventory, often it moves n-1 items (22 instead of 23, 99 instead of 100 etc.). And it buried some logs year 1 and they are still underground, I can see them with ALT. My game believes everything is more or less optional and does what I tell only if it isn't indisposed at the time.

The game was meant to play at 3 days per season, any modifier might change the base it self from the 3 days per season. I notice this on the other part, not the berries. It has nothing to do with how far to the village or not, etc. Again, the base of the game is 3 days per season, nothing more nothing less. Only for those people who does not understand or cannot except the default 3 days per season people (the concept in depth of the game which very much lacking of very small detail does not mention in the game), thats why dev give the option to keep those people quiet. So less fly flying on complain and bringing their pitch fork. So they can concentrate on making the game easier. Who can do their job when people constantly screaming at their ears right? Make sense. So at the release of the game, I just had feeling dev will remove the option and make it as 3 days per season. Or it will stay, who knows. Bottom line. The base is 3 days per season, when this modified things may get funny from there.

I have this bug too. - If you take something from the chests, you get 1 unit less. As in a game with a season of 3 days and 9 days.
I do not really understand your position, but - the starting base is 3 days, not a dogma. 3 days a season is not very convenient and not real.
Take, for example, the quest to shoot 8 wolves at night. You must reach the village of Nornika. Accept the quest in the afternoon on the first day of the season. On the first night, you are unlikely to find all 8 wolves. (I didn’t find it in 1 night and the quest ended in failure). There is still 1 night, and in the afternoon you have to turn it in before everyone goes to rest. At night 3 is the transition of the season. As a result, the quest lasts 3 months, if compared with real time.
I go around neighboring villages in order to talk with the residents during the day and raise my diplomatic skill, I can be on the road for 2 years in terms of a three-day cycle.
Not to mention that everyone does not sleep at night for years and tirelessly - they mainly saw firewood for residents)

Yes, the crossbow is awesome at long distances but hopeless in "close combat"..You don't have that time to reload when they come at you. You will die! :steammocking:
The recurve bow I think, is the ultimate bow for all hunting situations, especially with iron tip arrows. So quick in reload and good power. My absolute favourite :steamhappy:

I've used to use only Iron Spears, then tried a Longbow + Iron Arrow + Iron Spears just in case they get near, I had a close melee weapon. Now since I've watch 00 Critical using them, kinda want to try it, and I did, I am glad. :)
