Here's a quick video (up to date ;) ):

Maybe this is because the devs changed the look of the circle menu and how things are arrenged there?
I mean, everybody still could try to use their eyes - the trap symbol is pretty obvious even in the main overview of that circle menu, in my opinion...^^
But still, it looks different from what people have seen in videos online.
I noticed that most players noadays tend to "learn" how a game works by watching a bunch of videos they can find online, which might or might not be of any help, instead of just hopping into the game and figure things themselves, which, in my opinion, always is the best approach to get familiar with a game. Just saying...
Traps do have their own category. All traps, including the fishing nets are there. Just like lights have their own or farming. Once you get the general idea and after going there a few times you will find them quickly. Plus, it is not like the options in the Q-menu are endless.
Other traps can be unlocked in the survival tech tree once you unlocked the hunting lodge and the fishing hut.

Is the fish trap (with the utterly expensive linen thread) worth it?
Traps are nice and give me something to do but investing serious resources into something like this doesn't strike me as worth my time.
In my very personal opinion they aren't. Unless you have such an enormous surplus of linen thread that you don't know what else you could use it for.
I, personally, usually only set up the common rabbit trap, the bird trap and the rat trap. The fish traps I don't even unlock, not worth the money. As I said: MY opinion only. ;)
Agree on that one, in my opinion not even the fishing spear and fishing hut is worth it.
