You can also wash by walking into a lake or river that's deep enough.

You can steal planks from the villages. Gostovia has 15 laying around you can take by itself. I did this to make my stone house with plank roof to start with lol.

They also respawn daily or every other day.

A few of the abandoned carts have free planks by them now
