How far from animals is safe to build?
I went ahead and built a Hunters Lodge West of Borowo, where deer, lynx & rabbit spawn; between the 2 Y branches in the roads; east of the Wisent; and everything was fine for a season. The season turned over, into Autumn (Fall) and now I don't have anything there.

So, I think I've built too close too the animals, which means - how close is too close? Can anyone tell me how far away I should have built the building?

I know the Wood Extraction buildings have a 50 m radius for the Villagers to work in the forrest, so is it the same?

The only other building I have built over there is a house, but that was next to the road, not in with the animals.

Thanks for all of your advice!!

EDIT: Also - if I remove the buildings; will the animals respawn in the next season?
*is hopeful

Thank you :)

Hunting Lodge and perimeter protection from predators
I've decided to establish another settlement where boar and sometimes wolves prowl: does building a hunting lodge clear the surrounding area of predators?

Building anything should black spawns, yes.

OK! What would be the radius of blocked spawns from a building?

+1 I asked this yesterday & I still don't know; how far away do we need to build from an animal spawn point to not break it?

Or, in your case, how far is it effective?

I wish someone could give us at least an estimate.

*bump*

Can someone please advise?

I would really like to build an 'on theme' hunters shack & outpost, think Sambor's house; away from the main village, out in the forrest near where the Deer roam; but I can't if it's going to break the game.

However, if I knew what the restrictions were, I could work with them. Please, anyone? Thanks.

There is no radius at the moment. At least not for production, only for animation. Farmers on the fields are the only exception.

If you build somewhere, the spawn will be blocked and if you removed that, it should take a season change and they should respawn.

As far as how big the radius is for blocking, I don't know, but I'll ask. It's just in the middle of the night and Sunday right now. So, will take a bit.

I'll get back to you as soon as I know.

@GoldRie thank you :)

I appreciate that, it's Sunday here too!! I'm an Aussie, so I get it. :D :D

I don't want to waste materials, so I'll leave it as is, then when we know the answer (is hopeful), I can destroy the building & rebuild where it's appropriate.

I'll bump the thread during the week incase it gets lost (I know how busy it can get).

Thanks again :)

I've merged you two, since the underlying question is basically the same. Don't let it confuse you ;)

No problem, thanks so much :) Happy to have you looking into this :)

Goldie, thanks for your willingness to help us understand this fabulous game!

So, word of the ancient gods is that the radius of the spawner is what counts. Those are different for each one and as soon as one building is in range, the animals from it won't spawn anymore.

Trial and error, I'm afraid. However, the good thing is that they are constant. The radius of a spawner doesn't suddenly change. Once you have the right distance, you are good.

I know the spot you are talking about and I build my hunters lodge in the same area. If you build at the waters edge just east of the bridge it will not interrupt the animal spawns and your hunters will hunt the deer. As of now NPC hunters only hunt deer and boar though. They will not go after the other animals. I tend to let them clear the deer and I go after the other animals after.
I'm not convinced that the spawning area or the distance they travel actually affects what a hunter brings home.

I have outlying buildings and a lake on the other side so I have "interdicted" quite a large area and my hunters shed is actually in the village. There have been no boar or deer within at least a half k of my village for years. Plus most of the time (I've not checked in depth) my hunter never leaves her shed. She still brings home the bacon (and venison).

The Ai needs to find huntable animals nearby. And since animals only spawn near the player character, you will need to trigger the spawnpoints (moving there) and then the ai (if animals have been spawned in its tracked radius) starts the hunting animation.

When you build your hunting lodge in an area, whithout active animal spawners, the ai will not leave the lodge, and stay untriggered. The production output is not related to the animation mechanics (for now).
