Can i make my villgars to auto fill the buckets so i can my tavern guy can make break?

Is this still not a thing? What is the point of assigning a villager to the well then? How does one acquire buckets in the first place? Why is everything in this game so hard to do with the current UI?

This topic is from 2021. By now you assign a villager to the well, put buckets into the resource storage and set up the production in the production menu of the well. Your NPC will fill the buckets and they will appear in the food storage. Other NPCs can drink from them or use them for cooking. Once empty they are put back into the resource storage.

You can buy buckets and once unlocked you can craft them. I believe in the workshop, but I have to double check.

This topic is 2 years old by now, I presume that the game was still in EA then.
By now the game has been fully release for over a year already.

Villagers assigned to the well will fill your waterskins or waterbuckets if you assign them that task.
You can craft buckets in the workshop with wooden planks, or have your workers craft them for you.

Not sure what part of the UI you are struggling with?

I see. Buckets are crafted then? They do not seem to show up on my crafting UI.

Ok, thank you. I did a search for WATER and BUCKETS and this came up. EXCUSE ME if I grabbed an old thread. I am finding the game very unintuitive so far.

You have to build a workshop and interact with the workbench there. They cannot be crafted by hand.

Ok. Sounds like I should not have wasted time building the well first then. Good to know. The UI was screaming that no one had water so I figured that was how to fix it.

The crafting UI is for handcrafts only. For most items you need the appropriate building to make them (and buy the blueprint first). Buckets are crafted in the workshop.

You can find this info also ingame by looking in the knowledge tab, last subtab. You'll find all items ingame there, with some explanation and a description how to get them.

Have you found the Knowledge tab already? A lot of information can be found there, some even with short videos.

And if that doesn't help, you will always find help here. :)

Make sure you look at the knowledge tab (first subtab) under 'inhabitants'. That normally also pops up when you recruit your first villager.
So don't click these pop-ups away without reading, otherwise you'll have a hard time figuring things out.

Sounds like I should start over. I accidentally recruited the first villager and she has been a lazy, useless parasite ever since. I don't need socialists in my village when we don't even have any food to begin with. Thanks for the help.
