Fishing
Am I correct in assuming that the only way to get pike, perch and roach is to fish manually? I've had a fisherman for the whole game and he has never caught these breeds

Yeah, but still manual then. Not like the other resources that the NPCs collect automatically

Yes. The NPC fishers already do the job of turning the fish into filet for you. You can't get just the fish from them.

So as I see it, the fisher only catches 'general' fish. If I want the options below, i.e fish meat x 4 or fish meat x 7, I have to supply the specialised fish myself

FIsherpeople produce a certain number of fillets per day, based on skill and effort settings. They don't go through a process of actually catching fish, they just conjure ready-to-cook fillets out of thin air (like hunters produce already-sliced meat). If you just want fish for food, this is the best option. If you want whole intact fish for some reason (quests?), you can fish by hand, set up nets, or buy them.

for them to produce filets they need the fishing spear, but if you want to cach fish and you are lazy like me use your bow XD

Lol, never tried that. Good to know it works xD

Started a nw game and didn´t even build a fishing hut anymore because it´s total useless if you have some fields, a hunter and a collector. You will have too much food, way too much. No need for fish, tbh.

Yeah - Felt a little cheated after I tried for hours to get the fishermen to use nets. Info on that needs to be clearer in game please.

They don't use nets you do, it was a bit useless atm because of the recipes, but i believe it will change later they are adding new things with every update, i have one for now just for quests that need fish since i never unlocked the net.

Yes. Thank You. I understand that now. However your post is not 'in game' where I believe a little clue might keep other new players from wasting hours to figure out it's not me - it's the game, Having those items in the same UI as the Worker info is quite misleading. For this idiot anyway.

Your not an idiot just to be clear. Different people have different ways of thinking. Any small detail a miss is good feedback. I hope the dev reading this as well. I would update it in my guide and add a note, that Fisher cannot use a fishing net, only Racimir does. Just to help others as well. Thank you for noticing :)

If you mean the fishing hut production menu, those are worker tasks to clean fish, should you have any fish that you don't feel like cutting up yourself (not very useful ATM, I agree). The details box at the bottom of each production task tells you what is required; in this case, it specifies the whole fish as input and the fillets as output, and knives as the required tool.
